SALEM — The Forever Safe Farm Animal Education Center, 3155 McCracken Road, will hold its second goat yoga and wine event at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The first goat-yoga fundraiser, which is already filled up, is this Thursday.

The cost for the September event is $30. Another $10 provides a half-hour animal sanctuary barn tour.

“It’s a combination of regular beginner’s yoga but with goats,” said Lesley Kerr, an animal caretaker, adding it’s for all ages.

The class is from 45 minutes to an hour long and the flyer said it is an experience in a new setting. Participants should bring a yoga mat, sun screen and water bottle.

The session will be led by Dr. Nicole Ranttila, a clinical psychologist who is also an instructor at Studio Oxygen in Canfield.

The session includes six baby goats from Lofland Farms in Orwell in Ashtabula County.

The goats weigh about 30 pounds, animal caretaker Kim Rudawsky said, adding the 10 goats that reside at the farm are bigger, older and perhaps a bit more tenured for yoga.

Kerr said, “People want to do goat yoga. People want to interact with the goats and they climb on your back as you’re doing yoga. They’re wandering around while the people are doing yoga. It’s different and we make the spaces limited. Some places have 100 people for six goats.”

After yoga, participants can enjoy a glass of wine donated by Sundog Cellars in Columbiana.

To sign up, call Karrin Campf at 330-727-8909. Credit cards are accepted.

The farm will also be hosting its annual open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 27.
