Grand Jury

LISBON — Three drug defendants were served recently with secret indictments issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury.

Jaycent Staats, 41, U.S. Route 30, East Rochester, was charged in two separate indictments for third-degree felony illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, and fifth-degree felonies of possession of cocaine and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs for allegedly possessing cocaine and methamphetamine and trying to take drugs into a detention facility on Feb. 4, 2024 and for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on June 21, 2024.

Dylan Henderson, 19, Campbell, was charged with fourth-degree felonies of trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, both with specifications for forfeiture of money in a drug case, for allegedly preparing to sell and possessing cocaine in an amount equal or greater than 5 grams but less than 10 grams and possessing $196 on Feb. 25, 2024.

Todd Ritchie, 47, North Ellsworth Avenue, Salem, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on June 17, 2024.

LISBON–A preliminary hearing has been set for a Lisbon man facing several felony charges.

A preliminary hearing was set July 17 for James Laughlin, 34, state Route 518, Lisbon, charged with first-degree felony kidnapping, four counts of third-degree felony vehicular assault, and fourth-degree felony domestic violence for allegedly deliberately ramming a Jeep with five occupants with a van which had an unrestrained 2-year-old juvenile inside before fleeing the scene following a dispute where the other person involved fled to the driver of the jeep for protection in Rogers on June 29. Two occupants of the Jeep reported injuries.

A preliminary hearing was set July 17 for Frederick Harroff, 65, Columbiana Lisbon Road, Columbiana, charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, for allegedly repeatedly striking a woman with “a heavy wooden baseball bat” over the head and body while they laid in bed during a verbal dispute causing multiple lacerations to the top of her head and arm and leaving her covered in blood from head to toe and still actively bleeding when officers arrived on June 2 in Columbiana.

Richard Dyke, Quay Road, Negley, was fined $925 and sentenced to 90 days in jail with 87 days suspended and ordered to complete 20 hours of community service for physical control, amended from OVI, and failure to maintain reasonable control.

A pretrial was set Oct. 8 for Cale Chaisson, 19, Seventh Street, Toronto, charged with endangering children, OVI, and failure to display valid registration for allegedly being impaired with two minors in the vehicle during a traffic stop for a registration violation in Yellow Creek Township on July 5.

A pretrial was set July 21 for Darrion Ollison, 34, Wooster Road, Barberton, charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools for allegedly arranging to meet with an undercover agent from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in Salem on July 10 for sexual acts in exchange for $80 and possessing the device used to arrange the illegal act when meeting with the agent.

A pretrial was set Oct. 23 for Brandon Miller, 34, Bell Road, Lisbon, charged with animals running at large for allegedly allowing three donkeys and a cow to escape from his property onto another persons’ property after receiving repeated warnings about the issue.

A pretrial was set Oct. 27 for Andrew Midcap, 47, Hoover Avenue, Uniontown, charged with OVI, speeding, and a seatbelt violation.

A pretrial was set Nov. 6 for Landon Lipply, 19, Metz Road, Columbiana, charged with OVI and failure to display a valid sticker.

A pretrial was set Nov. 4 for Christopher Rose, 30, Lang Street, East Liverpool, charged with driving without a valid license.

A pretrial was set Oct. 6 for Abdulhafedh Mohsen, 32, Poland Avenue, Youngstown, charged with speeding.

A pretrial was set Aug. 25 for Lorman Frye, 41, Sprucevale Road, East Liverpool, charged with OVI and left of center.

A pretrial was set Aug. 14 for Mark Thomas, 43, Harding Avenue, Salem, charged with driving under suspension.

A pretrial was set Oct. 28 for Gary Rich, 67, Smith Road, Negley, charged with speeding.

A pretrial was set Nov. 3 for Alex Marquez, 21, Indianola Avenue, Youngstown, charged with driving under suspension and assured clear distance ahead.
