LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary/pretrial hearing was set July 1 for Jarred Chestnut, 32, West California Avenue, Sebring, charged with first-degree felony aggravated burglary, third-degree felony having weapons while under disability and misdemeanor aggravated menacing for allegedly trespassing in a Continental Drive, Salem apartment, threatening the resident with a handgun, grabbing him by the neck and chest and threatening to put him in a trunk and make him disappear on June 20.
An affidavit filed by a Salem police officer accused Chestnut of using stealth to trespass in the apartment by going to the back door after attempting to go into the front door and concealing himself from the camera. He allegedly showed the victim a handgun during the burglary and told the victim he would use it. Due to a previous felony conviction, Chestnut was prohibited from having a weapon.
Chestnut’s bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety and he was ordered to have no contact with the property in question or any residents.
Cases against Jaime Anne Rickerd, 36, Ravine Street, East Liverpool, were bound over to the county grand jury for fourth-degree felonies of assault and assault on a peace officer. On June 10 in East Liverpool, police responded to a report of a female freaking out on people trying to check on her. When officers asked her what was going on, she started getting agitated and started walking away, then she allegedly threw a partially filled Gatorade bottle at one officer and punched another officer in the chest. After being taken to East Liverpool City Hospital, she allegedly started kicking and flinging her arms, striking several nurses and also spit in the face of a doctor and spit towards an officer. She was fined $50 for a dog at large charges for her dog being loose on June 5 in East Liverpool. A pretrial was set for Rickerd on Aug. 12 for charges of failure to stop after an accident and assured clear distance.
A case against Luke Worden, 43, Independence Square, Wellsville, was bound over to the county grand jury for third-degree felony domestic violence and misdemeanor criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing at a Columbiana Metropolitan Housing Authority property in Wellsville and slamming a woman’s wrist in the door on July 24, 2022.
A case against Markell Smith, 19, East Main Street, Salineville, was bound over to the county grand jury for fifth-degree felony obstructing official business for allegedly lying multiple times about knowing who was driving a vehicle involved in a pursuit that then crashed on June 3 in Salineville. The driver fled on foot and Smith was a passenger.
A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set June 27 for Toby Ragsdale, 53, Scio, charged with third-degree felony failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and traffic violations of speeding, no valid license, left of center, traffic control device and reasonable control. The charges stem from an attempted traffic stop on a motorcycle on June 16 in St. Clair Township. Ragsdale allegedly fled at a high rate of speed and wrecked. He was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital. Police learned he had a warrant out of Texas.
A pretrial was set Sept. 19 for John Paul Kalosky, 52, Youngstown, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $140 from an undercover agent, traveling to Salem on June 20 for the meeting. The affidavit noted that he was a convicted felon for multiple charges, including burglary and attempted abduction and had an active arrest warrant out of Georgia for receiving stolen property.
A pretrial was set Aug. 8 for G. John Smith, 80, Depot Road, Lisbon, charged with assault for allegedly throwing and striking a juvenile with a wooden object on May 20 at a residence on state Route 172, Hanover Township.
A pretrial was set Sept. 5 for Steven Edward Slagle, 34, Allison Street, East Liverpool, charged with theft for allegedly having items from two different stores in buggies behind Cricket Wireless and Dunham’s. Slagle allegedly admitted to stealing the items on June 14 in St. Clair Township.
A pretrial was set Sept. 17 for Richard Csernik, 63, Youngstown, charged with theft for allegedly soliciting funds from the community between Jan. 1, 2022 and June 15, 2023 for fictitious events that did not exist. Csernik had worked as a promoter for the Fraternal Order of Police Quaker Lodge 88 for many years and named the fake events “Shop with a Cop” and “The Annual Thanksgiving Day Banquet.” An affidavit by Salem Police Detective Brad Davis said that Csernik provided the FOP with a report indicating a bank deposit was made, prompting the FOP to pay him $960 based off of previous solicitation agreements. The affidavit said the weekly report was fictitious and a bank deposit was never made.
A pretrial was set Sept. 16 for Alivia Kaczmark, 24, Austintown, charged with drug abuse for allegedly possessing 15 tramadol pills in her purse during a traffic stop in St. Clair Township on Sept. 27, 2023.
A pretrial was set Aug. 27 for Christopher Dorsey, 43, Erie Street, East Liverpool, charged with deposit litter, garbage, trash or junk on adjacent property on alley for allegedly dumping tires at the back of a vacant house in East Liverpool on March 30.
Kaila DiMaggio, 26, Independence Square, Wellsville, was fined $150 and sentenced to five days in jail, with credit for five days served, for drug paraphernalia for possessing several burnt meth/crack pipes on the floor and nightstand beside where she was lying in a house in East Liverpool during the execution of search warrant on March 28. She was also ordered to spend five days in jail, with credit for five days served, leaving zero days to serve for a probation violation for a 2022 theft case.
A pretrial was set Aug. 22 for Valorie Hammond, 35, North Market Street, East Palestine, charged with possession of a drug abuse instrument and theft. During a traffic stop on June 6 in East Liverpool, she allegedly possessed syringes. On June 10, she allegedly stole multiple items from Dollar Tree in East Liverpool. She was ordered to pay costs for expired registration.
A pretrial was set Sept. 17 for Cagney Allen Spencer, 35, Pennsylvania Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with 30 counts of zoning violation for alleged zoning code violations in the city of East Liverpool beginning April 21 through May 20 for operating a commercial logging business on the property without a zoning certificate for an industrial-type enterprise. The affidavit filed by East Liverpool City Planning Director William Cowan noted the property is classified B-1 for a neighborhood business, but it was discovered the property was being used as a staging area for a commercial business non-conforming to areas zoned B-1. The owner had been ordered in February 2023 to manage the property according to city code, but continued to operate the commercial logging business at the property.
A pretrial was set Aug. 27 for Joshua Board, 34, Windrose Court, Columbiana, charged with maximum permissible height of weeds violation. Board allegedly failed to cut weeds and grass more than 12 inches in height in violation of the city housing code for a property on Haywood Street, East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set Aug. 22 for Timothy Wilson II, 46, last known address East Fourth Street, Salem, charged with drug paraphernalia for allegedly having a glass pipe commonly used with narcotics in his possession on June 20 in Salem where he was caught attempting to heat up the pipe and tossed it when he saw police.
A pretrial was set Aug. 26 for Arthur Bosworth, 57, Autumn Road, Wellsville, charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense, reasonable control and no seat belt.
A pretrial was set Aug. 8 for Ashley Vankirk, 39, Girard, charged with speeding.
Joseph Beatty, 36, Marysville, was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, with credit for 17 days served, leaving a total of 13 days still to serve for violating his probation for a 2018 case for OVI and failure to control.
A sentencing hearing was set July 11 for Stephanie Stine, 36, Lexington Avenue, Salem, who pleaded guilty to OVI first offense and reasonable control.
Robyn Warnoff, 35, Walnut Street, Rogers, was fined $200 for driving under suspension.
Sarah Ann Graham, 21, East Main Street, East Palestine, was fined $250 for driving under suspension and expired registration.
Jessica Lindner, 36, Pritchard Avenue, Lisbon, was fined $200 for driving under suspension.
