LISBON — A Canton man who trespassed on a Hanoverton property last fall and injured another man entered a guilty plea recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to aggravated assault and trespassing.

Ryan Gonzalez, 19, will face sentencing Sept. 6 for the lesser fourth-degree felony aggravated assault and fourth-degree felony trespassing. He had originally been charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

A first-degree felony aggravated burglary charge will be dismissed.

Gonzalez was on the Hanoverton property on Oct. 8, 2023 without permission and injured the other man during a confrontation.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Joshua Huey, 36, Warren, will face a final status hearing at 8:30 a.m. June 28 and trial on July 15 after several motions filed in his case were denied. Huey had informed the court that he was representing himself, but a motion filed by his previous defense counsel to dismiss the third-degree felony having weapons while under disability based on the Second Amendment was denied. Also denied were motions filed by Huey to strike a prosecutor’s motion from the record from May 31 and his writ to compel discovery. In the writ, he was asking for copies of the oaths of office and bonds for the judge and any lawyers involved, along with other items not in compliance with criminal rules for discovery. Charges against him include the having weapons while under disability charge, fifth-degree felony improper handling firearms in a motor vehicle and possession of fentanyl-related compound, two counts fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanors of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and OVI refusal with prior within 20 years. The charges stemmed from an Oct. 8 traffic stop in Leetonia when Huey allegedly possessed a loaded firearm under the driver seat in a vehicle reported stolen out of Trumbull County. He also possessed two stolen guns and fentanyl.

— Katherine Harpold, 21, Broadway Avenue, Wellsville, was ordered evaluated for competency and sanity by the Forensic Psychiatric Center of Northeast Ohio after her defense attorney filed motions requesting the evaluations. She’s facing two counts of endangering children, a third-degree felony, for allegedly creating a risk of harm to a 2-month-old child on Sept. 29, 2022.

— James Nelson, 36, West Ninth Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to seven months in prison, with credit for 71 days served in jail, for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on Sept. 13, 2023.

— Brian Gerren, 61, East Main Street, Salineville, was sentenced to eight months in prison, with credit for two days served, for violating his probation for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. His community control was dishonorably terminated. Gerren possessed methamphetamine on May 3, 2022.

— Chelsie May, 36, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor theft, with sentencing set for Sept. 6. May was accused of possessing methamphetamine on June 11, 2021 and stealing on May 13, 2020.

— Paul Geisse, 52, Fisher Avenue, East Liverpool, must remain on community control until Aug. 3, 2026 for fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs after his intervention plan was dishonorably terminated for violations. Geisse possessed methamphetamine on Oct. 7, 2021.

— Rick Willis, 34, Spring Street, Salineville, was ordered to spend 83 days in the county jail for violating his probation for charges of possession of fentanyl-related compound and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, both fifth-degree felonies. His community control was dishonorably terminated. Willis possessed fentanyl on Jan. 21, 2023 and was driving another person’s 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse without permission on May 13, 2021.

— Beth Campbell, 43, Canton, was sentenced to 28 days in the county jail after pleading guilty to possession of fentanyl-related compound and possession of cocaine for a case from 2020. A bench warrant had been issued when she failed to appear for a hearing in 2020. She was taken into custody on May 21 this year. Campbell possessed fentanyl and an amount of cocaine under 5 grams on April 5, 2019.

— Kristopher Quintero, 35, Lorain, was placed under community control for 12 months after pleading guilty to aggravated trespassing, aggravated menacing and obstructing official business, all misdemeanors. As part of the probation, he was ordered to spend 70 days in the county jail, but had 70 days credit, leaving a balance of zero days to serve. He was told to have no contact with the victim. A second-degree felony burglary and misdemeanor disorderly conduct were dismissed. Quintero was accused of kicking open a locked door at an Echo Dell Road, Rogers property on Aug. 19, 2023 and threatening to harm a woman and her sister. During the incident, he allegedly continuously used offensive, vulgar language toward deputies and the victim and did not cease after multiple requests to calm down, also interrupting as deputies were trying to talk with witnesses.

— David Talbert, 68, Sugar Street, East Liverpool, was placed under community control for 18 months after pleading guilty to attempted aggravated possession of drugs, a fourth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine in an amount equal or greater than bulk, but less than five times bulk on May 14, 2022.

— Kirk Price, 56, Eighth Avenue, East Liverpool, was placed under 12 months community control for attempted possession of drugs, a misdemeanor and lesser offense, for attempting to possess methamphetamine on Sept. 21, 2022. He was originally charged with aggravated possession of drugs.

— Delores Lilly, 59, state Route 45, Lisbon, was placed under community control for three years for third-degree felony illegal conveyance of drug of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility. She received credit for one day served in jail. A charge of possession of drugs for allegedly possessing clonazepam was dismissed. Lilly was accused of taking drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility on June 21, 2020.

— Brian Miller, 41, Florence Street, East Liverpool, was placed under community control for one year, with credit for one day served, for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing THC on March 26, 2021.

— Jeremy Blanchard, 33, Midland, Pa., was placed on a treatment plan for three years after pleading guilty to fourth-degree felony possession of cocaine, fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs and misdemeanor possession of drugs. On May 30, 2022, Blanchard possessed psilocyn, clonazepam and an amount of cocaine equal or greater than 5 grams, but less than 10 grams.
