LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Barry Stephens, 63, Depot Road, Salem, was bound over to the county grand jury for charges related to child porn.
The charges against Stephens include third-degree felony pandering obscenity-create produce polish materials for commercial exploitation, fourth-degree felony pandering obscenity-buy procure possess obscene material and fifth-degree felony illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.
According to a police affidavit, a search warrant was executed Feb. 29 at his residence and a preview was conducted on the computer he used, allegedly revealing in excess of 2,000 images and videos depicting children, some appearing to be toddlers, engaged in sexual acts and in a state of nudity. Also, he had allegedly reproduced or published an image of a juvenile to Microsoft Bing which would be classified as obscene material on Nov. 28, 2022.
A preliminary hearing was set April 1 for Wesley Dickson, 18, Commerce Street, Wellsville, charged with third-degree felony failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer for allegedly failing to stop while being pursued by a state trooper attempting a traffic stop in Wellsville on March 1.
A preliminary hearing was set March 14 for Steven McGrew, 38, Pine Lake Road, Beloit, charged with third-degree felony failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer for allegedly attempting to flee from police on Feb. 24 in Salem, leading them on a chase at speeds sometimes in excess of 90 mph before they suspended the chase. The car had been reported stolen.
Kaleb Messersmith, 23, Hubbard, was fined $250 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 25 days suspended and credit for one day served, leaving four days remaining to serve, for misdemeanor criminal trespass, amended from aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service and to stay away from the victim. Messersmith was accused of forcing entry into a Salem home when the door was slammed in his face on Dec. 7, 2023. The victim advised he was punched by Messersmith.
Michael Crittenden, 28, East Sixth Street, Salem, was fined $1,325 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving under suspension, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. His driver’s license was suspended for one year and he was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. He was accused of providing a relative’s name and date of birth during an incident with police in Salem on Feb. 23 and then resisted.
A pretrial was set June 3 for Anthony Card, 46, Massillon, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct from an undercover agent for an agreed upon price of $140 and driving to Salem on March 7 for the meeting. He was also fined $150 for driving under suspension.
Matthew Marshall, 23, South Union Avenue, Salem, was fined $1,305 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 172 days suspended and credit for eight days served for theft, OVI, distracted driving, left of center and no seat belt. Marshall was accused of ringing up 23 items using a lower value sticker at the Salem Walmart on June 13, 2023, with the items valued at $271.
Jessica Welsh, 31, Jackman Street, East Liverpool, was fined $150 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for disorderly conduct, amended from domestic violence at the request of the victim. Welsh had been accused of spitting on a man, smacking him on the face and throwing his clothes outside and pouring gasoline on them.
Dalton McKinnon, 22, LaCroft Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $100 and sentenced to eight days in jail, with credit for eight days served, for drug paraphernalia for possessing seven unused hypodermic needles, one used hypodermic needle and two tourniquets when searched at Family Dollar in East Liverpool on Feb. 16 when a theft had been reported.
Kaley Brandle, 33, East State Street, Salem, was fined $450 and sentenced to 15 days in jail, with credit for 11 days served, leaving a balance of four days to serve in jail for failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and two counts driving under suspension. Her driver’s license was suspended for one year. Brandle was accused of fleeing from police attempting a traffic stop on Feb. 26 in Lisbon.
A pretrial was set March 14 for Christopher Ingram, 41, Blakely Street, East Liverpool, charged with theft for allegedly attempting to steal a coffee table from the Calcutta Walmart on Feb. 24.
A status conference was set May 28 and a jury trial June 5 for Heather Stanley, 32, state Route 45 South, Salem, charged with OVI first offense and marked lanes.
Cody Hostetter, 22, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, was fined $100 and sentenced to four days in jail, with credit for four days served, for drug paraphernalia for possessing a glass bubble pipe with burnt residue while being served with a warrant on Feb. 26 in Salem.
A pretrial was set June 3 for Nicholas Taulbee, 31, McKinley Avenue, Lisbon, charged with OVI first offense, left of center and no seat belt.
A pretrial was set May 2 for Connor Wilson, 22, North Shore Drive, Beloit, charged with OVI first offense, failure to stop after an accident and failure to yield.
A pretrial was set April 22 for Caitlyn Olinger, 22, New Castle, Pa., charged with wrongful entrustment.
