Municipal Court

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a man arrested for his actions during the execution of a search warrant at his son’s home in connection with a homicide investigation appeared for a new pretrial Thursday.

William P. Long Sr., 72, Endley Road, Lisbon, was fined $250 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 29 days suspended and credit for one day served, for disorderly conduct, amended from obstructing official business. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service.

William P. Long Sr., previously pleaded no contest and was found guilty of obstructing official business, a misdemeanor, with sentencing scheduled for Dec. 14, but that hearing was continued and his attorney sought to vacate the plea, claiming he was not represented by counsel at the time and didn’t know all his options.

Judge Katelynn Dickey granted the motion to vacate the previous plea and a plea agreement was reached with the prosecution.

The search warrant had been executed Nov. 30 at the home of William P. Long Jr., North Market Street, Lisbon, whose ex-wife, Michelle Long, was found shot to death on her property on Carey Road in Butler Township

According to an affidavit filed by sheriff’s Deputy Robert Sanchez, a Special Response Team operator, loud and clear lawful commands were given for all occupants of the address on North Market Street, Lisbon to come to the door. Two people complied, then William P. Long Sr. came to the door and immediately began to passively resist with the orders given while other operators could see multiple other people inside the residence. He had to be forcefully removed from the doorway, resulting in the charge since his actions delayed law enforcement officials in removing everyone from inside.

No arrests have been made yet in the homicide, which remains under investigation.
