Grand Jury
LISBON — An East Liverpool woman was served Wednesday with a secret indictment for allegedly stealing from Farmers National Bank in 2020.
Gloria Flaherty, 48, Birch Road, was charged by the Columbiana County Grand Jury with theft and passing bad checks, both fifth-degree felonies. According to the indictment, she wrote a bad check for $4,500 dated Oct. 12, 2020 and used it on Oct. 13, 2020, then on Oct. 14, 2020, she allegedly stole $4,240 from Farmers National Bank.
Also served with secret indictments on Wednesday were:
– Brianna Beaudon, 38, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, possession of fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, for allegedly possessing drug paraphernalia and an amount of fentanyl-related compound in an amount equal or greater than 1 gram, but less than 5 grams on Oct. 21, 2021.
— Christopher Lanning, 36, East Main Street, East Palestine, two counts nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly failing to pay child support for two children from April 25, 2021 to April 23, 2023.

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Jesse Schisler, 38, Franklin Avenue, Salem, was bound over to the county grand jury for burglary, a second-degree felony, for allegedly entering a woman’s residence on East Pershing Street in Salem on July 11. The victim told police a man she didn’t know entered her home.
A case against Maiko Valoy, 40, Deltona, Fla., was bound over to the county grand jury for third-degree felony compelling prostitution, fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and fifth-degree felony possessing criminal tools for allegedly answering an undercover ad posted on a known prostitution website for a 15-year-old female, arranging for sexual conduct with the teen in exchange for money and arriving in East Palestine on July 11 for the meeting.
Jeffrey Heestand, 47, Canton, was fined $750 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $70, then traveling to East Palestine on April 19 for the meeting.
Terry Lee Mullins, 52, Rose Drive, Lisbon, was sentenced to 14 days in jail, with credit for four days served, leaving 10 days to serve in jail for public indecency and criminal trespass. There was no fine, but costs were taxed against the defendant. Mullins was accused of engaging in certain conduct in front of a large sliding glass door within view of the public driving down the road on March 25 in Lisbon. The trespass charge stemmed from him going into the Dollar General store in Lisbon on July 18 even though he had been trespassed from the property.
A pretrial was set Sept. 18 for Ryan Pritt, 41, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, charged with misdemeanor receiving stolen property for allegedly having a stolen dirt bike in his possession in East Liverpool in May. The dirt bike had been reported stolen out of Jefferson County.
John Carl Reinhart, 51, East Clark Street, East Palestine, was fined $300 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 160 days suspended and credit for seven days already served, leaving 13 days to serve for domestic violence for striking a woman in the face and putting his hand on her throat during an argument in the kitchen of the East Palestine home on July 13. The physical altercation took place in front of two children. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service.
Zachary Perry, 28, Cadmus Street, East Liverpool, was fined $200 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended and credit for 10 days served for domestic violence. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Perry punched another man in the face on July 10 in East Liverpool.
A third-degree felony domestic violence charge was dismissed without prejudice against Joseph Otto Altenburg, 36, W. Main St., East Palestine, at the request of the prosecutor due to a deficient complaint. Costs were taxed to the state. Altenburg had been accused of striking a woman in the face and dragging her by the hair during a domestic on July 9 in East Palestine.
Jerry Tharp, 64, Conser Drive, Salem, was fined $250 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 145 days suspended and credit for 25 days served, leaving 10 days to serve in jail, for assault, amended from domestic violence. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Tharp grabbed a woman by the face and shoulder and threatened to kill her June 21 on Conser Drive, Salem.
Melissa McCulley, 41, East Washington Street, Salineville, was fined $425 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, for theft and criminal trespass. She was ordered to perform 20 hours community service and stay out of Calcutta Walmart. McCulley had been previously trespassed from the store when she failed to scan and pay for 39 items totaling $324 on April 24.
A pretrial was set Oct. 10 for Erich Mericle, 38, Allen Avenue, Columbiana, charged with obstructing official business and disorderly conduct for allegedly walking in the middle of the road on North Vine Street, Columbiana where he allegedly admitted to taking mushrooms and continued to walk into the road after being told to sit on the curb, yelled help at passing motorists and then laid down in the middle of the road on July 15.
A pretrial was set Oct. 17 for Joseph Gregorino-Suggett, 24, U.S. Route 30, Kensington, charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense, OVI breath first offense and speeding.
A pretrial was set Oct. 16 for Corbin Trickett, 31, Youngstown, charged with OVI first offense, OVI breath first offense and tail lights.
Shawn Timmons, 37, East Third Street, Salem, OVI third offense, OVI refusal with prior within 20 years and reasonable control.
A pretrial was set July 31 for Tiffany Aitken, 41, Pearl Street, Leetonia, charged with OVI first offense.
A pretrial was set July 31 for Shelby Fawn Fennell, Chester Street, East Liverpool, charged with three counts drug paraphernalia, two counts driving under suspension, improper turn, forfeiture, failure to display valid sticker and slow speed related to multiple traffic stops. During one on June 2 in St. Clair Township, Fennell allegedly possessed two baggies containing a crystal substance and a cut straw with residue. Cut straws with residue and a plastic container containing a crystal substance were found in her vehicle during a traffic stop July 18 in St. Clair Township.
A pretrial was set Oct. 19 for Jason Russell, 49, Dyke Road, Rogers, charged with drug paraphernalia and open container for allegedly possessing a metal tube with a crystal-like substance inside, which he allegedly admitted was methamphetamine, and a rolled up dollar bill used for snorting the meth on June 25 during a traffic stop in St. Clair Township.
A pretrial was set Oct. 16 for Lawrence Nardini, 56, St. George Street, East Liverpool, charged with possessing instruments to ingest for an incident on June 29 in East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set Oct. 16 for John Yano, New Cumberland, W.Va., charged with two counts possession of drug abuse instrument for allegedly possessing syringes on March 22 and July 19 in East Liverpool.
Steven Summers, 48, Vale Street, East Liverpool, was fined $390 for two counts driving under suspension, marked lanes and drug paraphernalia for possessing a silver pipe smoking device during a traffic stop April 1, 2022 in St. Clair Township.
Alexis Jones, 31, East Main Street, East Palestine, was fined $50 for wrongful entrustment.
A pretrial was set Oct. 12 for Siera Gross, 36, Union Ridge Road, Rogers, charged with wrongful entrustment.
Tyler Rogers, 28, Benton Road, Salem, was fined $150 for an equipment violation, amended from improper towing.
Benjamin Szmara, 44, state Route 14, Columbiana, was fined $150 for tail lights, amended from speeding-school zone.
Eric Barrios, 33, Woodland Avenue, Salem, was fined $$200 for driving under suspension.
Nadeem Malik, 66, Canfield, was fined $150 for unsafe vehicle, amended from speeding.
Kazon Carter, 23, Youngstown, was fined $200 for driving under suspension and marked lanes.

A pretrial was set Oct. 12 for Rame Nasr Omer, 29, Cincinnati, charged with speeding.
A pretrial was set Oct. 19 for Dwayne Salisbury, 50, Corning, charged with driving under suspension and use of unauthorized plate.
Jacob Prendergast, 21, Dobson Road, Salineville, was fined $150 for speeding.
Christopher Penman, 33, Steubenville, was fined $50 for expired plate and an OVI charge was dismissed due to the arresting officer no longer being available to testify.
