SALEM -- Roy A. Guthrie, 93, of Salem died 11:33 a.m. Wednesday at the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 1, 1923 in Stark County, the son of the late Vernon C. and Charlotte (Eckerman) Guthrie.
He retired in 1984 as weld shop foreman from the E. W. Bliss, after 39 years of service. A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he served in the Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns, receiving four bronze stars and the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva L. Guthrie; two sisters, Edith Guthrie and Mary Belle Pitts; and two brothers, Glenn and Art Guthrie.
A memorial gathering will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Amvets Post 45.
Arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial.
