Funeral home welcomes new director

SALEM — A new funeral director/embalmer is on staff at The Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services. Pamela Greenawalt is a veteran in the industry and available to serve the needs of families at their time of need.

Greenawalt graduated from West Branch High School in 1985, attended the Kent State Salem campus, Stark Technical College and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1989.

She then obtained her Ohio Funeral Director and Embalmers license after serving a one year apprenticeship with the Gednetz Funeral Home in Sebring under the direction of both John “Jack” Gednetz and Roger Ruzek, where she continued to work until 2005. She then decided to take a break from the funeral industry and took a job with Spitzer Chevrolet and in 2013, Greenwood Chevrolet, both large family-run businesses. While there she gained a broader outlook on how a larger scale business is operated, while still keeping that feeling of family, with regards to trust and respect.

The funeral home said in a press release that Greenawalt would now like to come back home, to once again serve her local community and the families and friends who she has gotten to know over the years, and some new ones as well.

In addition to keeping up her continuing education requirements over the years to keep her Funeral Director and Embalmer license active, Greenawalt has also completed training as a Certified Crematory Operator this past year, the release stated.

Greenawalt still lives in Beloit with her husband Arthur Westrem.

She will serve the Beloit/Sebring and surrounding areas by joining the Greenisen family in serving the Tri-County area at the funeral home in Salem. She will be available to serve anyone interested in pre-arranging a funeral or cremation service, transferring an existing preened from another funeral home or anyone that may have questions about available services.

She and the staff at the funeral home can be reached any time by calling 330-332-4401 or by email at greenisenfh@sbcglobal.net
