LISBON -- A woman was killed and two men injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Georgetown and Westville Lake roads in Knox Township.
According to the Lisbon post of the State Highway Patrol, Marlene A. Santini, 71, Salem, was pronounced dead at the crash scene by the county coroner after having been ejected from a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer in which she was a passenger.
Santini was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.
Suffering serious injuries and transported by STAT MedEvac to Akron General Hospital was Justin W. Stalnaker, 39, Ravenna, the driver of a 2000 BMW.
The driver of the Trailblazer, Dennis H. McCracken, 43, Salem, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
According to the patrol, Stalnaker was northbound on Westville Lake Road at 3:15 p.m. when he failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by the Trailblazer, which was eastbound on Georgetown Road.
Upon impact, McCracken's vehicle ran off the left side of the highway and overturned. Santini was one of five passengers with McCracken, seated in the rear of the Trailblazer.
The patrol reported McCracken was wearing a seat belt but did not report whether or not Stalnaker or any of the other passengers were using them.
The crash remains under investigation, and the patrol reported Friday it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
Charges are still pending, according to the patrol.
Assisting at the scene were fire departments and EMS units from North Georgetown, Beloit, Sebring and Homeworth.
