Firefighters battle truck fire
CALCUTTA — Firefighters from Calcutta and Glenmoor quickly extinguished a truck fire Monday night near state Route 170 and Duke Road, possibly caused by a malfunctioning brake. According to fire officials, Hayward Washington, Wellsville, was driving his 1999 Dodge Dakota when his brake light came on and a woman flagged him down to tell him his truck was on fire. The alarm was sounded at 8:22 p.m., and when firefighters arrived, the truck was fully engulfed in flames, according to officials. The flames were extinguished, and the truck was towed from the scene by Calcutta Towing.
