Care and share donations sought
The Salem Township Police Department with assistance from the Salem Lions Club will sponsor the Care and Share program for area families during the holiday season. Monetary donations will be accepted as well as gift cards and gift certificates. Family and individual sponsorships are also available. Checks should be made out to the Salem Lions Club with the memo “Care and Share” and mailed to the Salem Township Police Department, 3179 N. Glenview Lane, Leetonia OH 44431. Flu shots available Saturday
The county health department will hold a flu clinic from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Appointments are not required and most insurances are accepted. Those without insurance can receive a flu shot for $25 or $40 for the high dose for ages 65 and older. For more information call 424-0272, ext. 114.
Park, pool closed until spring
Willow Grove Park as well as the restrooms at the Sadie Van Fossan Pool in Lisbon will close today for winter. Both the park and the pool will reopen in the spring.
Moose craft show is Saturday

Model railroads to be on display
The Sebring Model Railroad Club, 216 E. Pennsylvania Ave., will have its annual 2017 open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 11, 12, 18 and 19. The club will open its doors in celebration of National Model Railroad month with displays of an 8-foot mountain, tunnels and bridges and detailed scenery. United to stage USO show
United Local will present “War Memories: a Vietnam War Story” USO Show Nov. 17 and 18 in the junior high gym. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the dinner show will begin at 6:30 p.m. All veterans in the audience will be honored with a gift at the end of the evening. Tickets are $11 for adults, and $9 for students and senior citizens and will go on sale Nov. 1 at www.unitedboxoffice.com. Bleacher seats, without the dinner, are available for $5. Free PSA screening offered
The county health department will offer a free PSA screening Nov. 14. The American Cancer Society recommends that men age 50 and older should have a prostate screening blood test yearly. Men who are African American or who have had a close family member diagnosed with prostate cancer, should begin screening at age 45. Those receiving the test must have a physician to send results to. To schedule an appointment call the health department 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 424-0272.
Salem band to march indoors
The Pride of Salem will host the annual indoor marching band concert at 6 p.m. Thursday in the John Cabas gymnasium. Class of 2020 members will also receive their Varsity S letters during the concert. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the general public. Drive up and get some soup
Mile Branch Grange will hold the monthly drive-thru soup sale on from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 9. Soups available are broccoli cheese and vegetable beef soup for $6 per quart. Soups must be preordered by noon Nov. 8. To order soup call 330-821-8023.
