LISBON -- A 24-year-old Cleveland man pleaded guilty to three drug-related charges in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Thursday, including to trafficking in acetyl fentanyl and fentanyl from a home on Steubenville Pike in August 2016.
Michael A. Harrison, also known as Reese, requested immediate sentencing and agreed that the 18 month sentence being recommended by Assistant County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart sounded fair, although he questioned how many days of credit he was already entitled to have. Weikart had the number of days at seven, but Harrison believed time he had been serving in other places was while he was on hold awaiting transport would count.
Judge Scott Washam sentenced Harrison to 18 months in prison and gave his defense attorney Colleen Hall-Dailey until Oct. 13 to research any claims of additional credit he would be entitled to, past the seven days.
Weikart said Harrison was in a home on Steubenville Pike on Aug. 1, 2016, when a search warrant was utilized by authorities to enter the home. Agents found Harrison in a back bedroom along with $3,070. There were items of drug paraphernalia throughout the home including two spoons containing trace fentanyl, a digital scale with trace amounts of acetyl fentanyl and fentanyl in the living room and three bags in the area of the toilet containing about .91 gram of acetyl fentanyl and fentanyl. Additionally, a plastic bag of the drugs was found in the toilet.
Harrison pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs and one count of tampering with evidence for placing one baggie containing about .32 gram of acetyl fentanyl and fentanyl into the toilet in an attempt to hide or destroy the evidence.
As young as Harrison is, Weikart pointed out he already has a felony criminal record, which includes convictions for aggravated robbery and having weapons while under a disability.
