SALEM -- Adele's Place donated $10,000 to Akron Children's Hospital during its weekly drawing on Thursday.
With that money, more than $21,000 from the 50/50 drawings has been donated to non-profit organizations since it was started in September 2016.
Money has been donated locally to the Perry Township Police Department, the Perry Township First Responders, the Salem Police Department K-9s and the Shriners.
The $10,000 presented to Akron Children's Hospital is the largest split from the 50/50 which was accumulated by holding 50 percent back from several drawings.
JoAnn Stock, the senior director of development and Rianne Mason, fund raising intern, from the Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley accepted the check.
Stock said, "Every dollar raised in the Mahoning Valley stays right here in the community to help local children."
She said the Beeghly Campus at 6505 Market St. in Boardman opened in 2008 to provide services to 10 locations for children.
"The money will be used to provide for charity care for unreimbursed services for our local kids," she said.
"A founding promise is no child is turned away due to the inability of parents to pay. So no child is ever turned away.
"It's because of fund raising events like this and people in our community that we're able to keep that promise to people in the Mahoning Valley."
Stock added that on behalf of the hospital and the children it serves, "We'd like to thank Adele's Place and her customers for their support."
The Queen of Hearts drawing amount of $240,461 went unclaimed as Mary Bowersock of Salem, who was present, was the owner of the ticket drawn with the No. 28 on it that matched up to the nine of clubs on the Queen of Hearts board.
Thomas Bolon was the winner of the 50/50 drawing of $2,070 and won $1,035.
The next drawing will be held on June 29 which will be the last one until July 18.
"After next week, we're off for two weeks," Lake said.
Adele's Place is located at 509 Snyder Road and the drawings are held at 6:30 p.m. each Thursday.
