WELLSVILLE -- A man was killed Monday in an apparent industrial accident while working at a loading operation on the Ohio River here.
The accident occurred in an area of the county port authority's intermodal facility where Heritage Transport drops off roll-off containers. According to WFMJ Channel 21, the man's body was found in the receiving/loading area, and his name has not been released.
The property is leased from the port authority by Pier 48, a company that loads and unloads cargo from barges using the port authority's crane system. Port authority CEO Penny Traina said the accident did not involve Pier 48's operations or staff.
Village police, the county coroner and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
