Got Talent tickets still available
Tickets for Salem's Got Talent, remain on sale for $20 each at the Salem Memorial Building from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Tuesday. The show is Saturday at the Memorial Building. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the talent show. Tuesday is also the deadline for performers to register by calling Amber or Scott at 330-332-5512. All proceeds from the event benefit the Memorial Building.
Eppy open house is Thursday
Eppy's Attic will host an open house from 4-8 p.m. Thursday East Palestine High School. The new clothing boutique located within the high school was created by the school after members of the district's Key Communicator group looked into ways to students with finding formal and semi-formal attire for various events. The boutique consists of gently used items that have been donated by other students and the community.
SWCD offering trees, fish
The Columbiana Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting orders for their tree and fish sale. The SWCD is offering a variety of trees and shrubs such as blueberries, bush cherries, Norway spruce, swamp white oak, hazelnuts and eastern redbud just to name a few of the 33 different varieties available. Prices range from packet to packet. The preorder deadline is April 14. Tree packets will be available for pickup from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. April 19, 20 and 21 at the SWCD office in Salem. The fish sale offers various species such as largemouth bass, bluegill, hybrid bluegill, channel catfish, black crappie, yellow perch, shell crackers, fathead minnows, Japanese koi and white amur. The deadline for ordering is March 31 and fish will available for pickup at 12:30 p.m. April 6. When the canal was the real deal
The Lepper Library in Lisbon will host a program titled "The Canal Through Lisbon" at 6 p.m. Thursday. Doug Bacso from the Sandy and Beaver Canal Association will talk on the path the canal took through New Lisbon and village residents who were important in the canals history. Minerva Library plans book sale
The Minerva Library, 677 Lynnwood Drive one block off U.S. 30, will hold its spring book sale beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Books for all ages and interests along with magazines, DVDs, music CDs, VHS tapes, and audiobooks will also available. Proceeds support both the purchase of new library materials and library programs. The sale is open during regular library hours and new items are added daily. Palestine book sale begins Friday
The Friends of the East Palestine Memorial Public Library will hold its annual March book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. A "bag sale" for books at a cost of $3 will be featured each day. There is a wide variety of hardback and paperback books. There are also DVDs, records, puzzles, and games available for 50 cents each. The book sale is located in the basement of the library at 309 N. Market.
'Miserables' tickets on sale today
The Crestview High School drama department will stage a production of "Les Miserables" at 7 p.m. March 24-25 and 2 p.m. March 26. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, the play is a story of heartbreak, passion and the resilience of the human spirit, and has become one of the most celebrated musicals in theatrical history. Presale tickets will be available in the school's Performing Arts Center lobby from 5-7 p.m. today through Friday. All tickets are general admission and are $8 for adults and $6 for students.
DQ will hold free cone day
The Columbiana Dairy Queen will be participating in free cone day (one per person) from 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 20. People also will be asked to consider making a small donation to Akron Children's Hospital, Boardman Campus, DQ's chosen charity. For more information, call 330-892-6100.
Crown offers youth drama camps
Summer drama camp will be held at Main Street Theater in Columbiana presented by Crown Theater Productions. Two camps were listed: June 12-30 for ages grades 7-12 featuring "High School Musical Jr." and July 10-30 ages 5 to grade 6 featuring "Aladdin Kids." Times for each are 9 a.m. to noon. Auction to aid Lisbon chamber
To raise money to pay for its share of hiring a consulting firm that specializes in revitalizing small town business districts, the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a quarter auction March 12 at the Social 45, state Route 45, Lisbon. The event begins at 1 p.m. and the cost is $5, with extra bidding paddles available for $1. To donate an item for the auction or to purchase tickets visit the chamber office at 120 N.
