Police: Fearing for daughter, woman brings gun to home

SALEM –A 60-year-old Leetonia woman found herself in trouble with the law after showing up at a South Lincoln Avenue apartment Wednesday night and threatening people with a rifle, including her 36-year-old daughter.

Lisa Volio, Cherry Valley Drive, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Columbiana County Municipal Court after being charged with aggravated menacing and using weapons while intoxicated for the incident reported at 9:21 p.m. Wednesday at 413 S. Lincoln Ave., where Salem police officers found her inside.

The report said she brought a rifle to the residence and used it to threaten multiple residents. The firearm was seized and she was taken into custody for the two charges and taken to the county jail.

When asked for more information about the report, Lt. Donn Beeson said the rifle was a .22 caliber loaded with seven rounds and was on the stairs. She was not holding it. There were four people in the upstairs apartment and two were listed as victims and two as witnesses.

According to Beeson, the report said Volio came to the residence because she thought her daughter was in danger from drugs.
