(AP) — Ryan Preece outlasted sleet, a wet track and a record number of cautions to win The Clash in near-freezing temperatures at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Wednesday night exhibition was the first victory at the top Cup Series level for Preece, who drives a Ford for RFK Racing. Angelichio joins Steelers

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike McCarthy hired former Minnesota Vikings assistant Brian Angelichio on Wednesday to serve as Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator. Angelichio spent the past four seasons as the tight ends coach/passing game coordinator in Minnesota. The hiring is a reunion for McCarthy and Angelichio. Angelichio spent three seasons as the tight ends coach on McCarthy’s staff in Green Bay from 2016-18. Angelchio has also worked for Carolina, Cleveland, Washington and Tampa Bay. Lolich was a Tiger hero

DETROIT (AP) — Mickey Lolich, who earned three complete-game wins for the Detroit Tigers in the 1968 World Series, the last Major League Baseball pitcher to accomplish that feat, died Wednesday. He was 85. The Tigers said Lolich’s wife told them he died after a short stay in hospice care. An exact cause of death was not provided. Denny McLain was the star of Detroit’s pitching staff in 1968, winning 31 regular-season games.
