UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (AP) — Claire Enright scored the go-ahead goal in the third period Sunday, Ava McNaughton had 34 saves, and No. 2 seed Wisconsin beat top-seeded Ohio State 3-2 at the women’s Frozen Four to win its second consecutive national championship Sunday in front of 3,785 fans at Pegula Ice Arena. Brackets are all busted

(AP) — Well, that’s that. No perfect NCAA Tournament brackets remained among the 26 million-plus of entries in the ESPN bracket challenge and in the contests tracked on the NCAA’s official website. The end came Sunday night when No. 6 seed Tennessee beat No. 3 seed Virginia 79-72 in the 44th game of the tournament — and before No. 9 seed Iowa pulled the biggest stunner of the weekend by knocking off No. 1 seed and defending national champion Florida 73-72. The day started with two perfect brackets left in the ESPN contest and four on the NCAA’s site, which tracks the ESPN ...

Ohio State’s quest to at least get back to the Sweet 16 begins Saturday afternoon when the third-seeded Buckeyes face No. 14 seed Howard. The winner will face either No. 6 seed Notre Dame or 11th-seeded Fairfield (Conn.) on Monday for the right to advance in the Fort Worth 1 Regional. Coach Kevin McGuff hopes ...

Perfect brackets dwindle to a precious few

(AP) — The odds of a picking perfect NCAA Tournament bracket are astronomical for a reason. The number of unblemished entries in ESPN’s bracket challenge dropped to 423 with four games to play Friday night, thanks in part to ninth-seeded Utah State’s win over eighth-seeded Villanova. Translation: Over 99.999% of the 26 million-plus brackets entered have already been busted. It was much the same over at the NCAA’s bracket challenge, where error-free entries were at 0.005% heading into Friday night’s games. Things were off to a slightly better start for those who gave ...

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Texas Tech was determined to rally together after losing its best player. Jaylen Petty scored 24 points, Christian Anderson added 18 and the fifth-seeded Red Raiders beat No. 12 seed Akron 91-71 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. Texas Tech (23-10) will face fourth-seeded Alabama in the second round in the Midwest Region on Sunday. Playing without All-America guard JT Toppin, who tore the ACL in his right knee last month, Texas Tech got double-figure scoring from five players. Josiah Moseley had 16 points, Donovan Atwell scored 15 and LeJuan ...
