At 45, Hamlin keeps on winning

LONG POND, Pa. (AP) — With every Denny Hamlin victory, speculation about his future grows and talks of retirement are questioned. He signed a two-year extension with Joe Gibbs Racing that runs through 2027 and he insists it will be his last season. At 45, he's the oldest full-time Cup Series driver in the field, but he can't stop winning. Hamlin won the NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway on Sunday for his third consecutive victory and passed the late Kyle Busch for sole possession of ninth place on the all-time wins list. Hamlin last week won his 63rd race in NASCAR's top ...

Ex-Cavs coach Brown finally gets his as head coach

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Mike Brown didn't seem to be the New York Knicks' first choice to take over as coach last spring, when the team fired Tom Thibodeau and was linked to at least a half-dozen other candidates who held various jobs around the NBA. In the end, he clearly was the right choice. Brown is now a five-time NBA champion coach — four of those rings won as an assistant, the fifth coming as head coach of the Knicks. He joins only Red Holzman on the list of those who won titles as coach of the Knicks, and fittingly, he did it on June 13. There's a banner in Madison Square ...

JERUSALEM (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday urged no further attacks by anyone after Israel’s military said it launched strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut, potentially complicating efforts to finalize a deal to end the U.S.-Iran war. Trump reacted on social media: “We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon” and “Let’s not blow it!” Trump later told Fox News he still expected an agreement ...

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Knowing New York had waited 53 years to see the Knicks hoist the NBA championship trophy, owner James Dolan didn't even wait to be handed the 30-pound gold-plated prize. He grabbed it and lifted it skyward with a yell. "I want to say something to New York," Dolan ...

NEW YORK (AP) — Sitting among a pint-raising crowd at a Manhattan soccer bar on the first day of the World Cup, George Carson described himself as a huge soccer fan who hopes to catch all 104 games of the global tournament. But on Saturday? "We got to watch the Knicks," he said. In ...

Cavaliers may look for big men in the draft

AJ Dybantsa is at the NBA Finals this week, working in a media role as a player correspondent. Even if he turns out to be a good reporter, he won't match what he already is as a basketball player — perhaps one who can lead the Washington Wizards to the finals themselves someday. The ...
