Warriors leave a trail of victims

BELOIT — The West Branch girls soccer team is leaving a lot of victims behind in the Division IV tournament. The second-seeded Warriors blanked 33rd-seeded Sheffield Brookside, 11-0, in a sectional final Thursday. West Branch improves to 18-0 and has only given up five goals all season. The Warriors advance to the district semifinals and will host 35th-seeded Struthers — which hasn't scored a goal this season — at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Road to state begins Saturday

The road to the state cross country meet begins Saturday. Most area teams will at Canton GlenOak High School. The Salem boys are the lone area Division II team and will run at 10:45 a.m. The top 14 teams and top 28 individuals advance to the Boardman regional meet on Oct. 31.
