Quakers own the field

AUSTINTOWN — Salem’s girls track team had a field day on Saturday at the 45th Optimist meet at Austintown Fitch Falcon Stadium. The Quakers won three of the four field events with Madolyn Gorby taking top honors in the high jump (5 feet 2 inches), Chaya Murray in the long jump (15-11) and Maddy Andres in the shot put (36-8 1/4). Peyton Colbert was second in the high jump (5-0), while Andres had a fourth place showing in the discus (108-6). Miller returns to Rebels

COLUMBIANA — As the Crestview Local Schools community turns the page into a new era, the Rebels are turning to an old friend to create some excitement in the boys basketball program. On Thursday, veteran coach Herman Miller, 59, was told he will once again lead the Rebels for the first time since 2017. Miller had served as the Rebel freshman coach the last two seasons under Lou Mateo, who resigned after the season. Before that he was the junior varsity coach under Rick Gates for three seasons. TORONTO (AP) — RJ Barrett hit a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining in overtime and the Toronto Raptors pushed their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series to a seventh game by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-110 on Friday night. Evan Mobley had a chance to win it for Cleveland but his 3-pointer bounced off the front of the rim.
