DEERFIELD -- There is one more weekend of racing in Deerfield.

Deerfield Speedway -- known as Good’s Raceway the past six years -- has been sold to a Hudson fireworks company and reportedly will be used as storage.

Sorgi Investments LLC -- which is associated with American Fireworks Company -- purchased the nearly 31-acre site recently for $536,000 from Jim and Jen Good, according to the Portage County Auditor’s website.

The quarter-mile clay oval track opened in 1969 for motorcycle racing. It closed in 1974 and reopened in 1986 for smaller race cars. This will be the third time the track has closed in the 2000s. It looks like it will be for good, though.

Seven generations of the Sorgi family have worked in the fireworks business, which produces about 700 shows a year.

Good’s Raceway was hit by 13 rainouts this season and dwindling car counts that have become common at most small tracks.

The track was put up for sale in May with a listed price of $719,400.

The last weekend of racing with six divisions will be non-points races at 6 p.m. Saturday and a 200-lap enduro at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The 2026 season track champions have been already crowned and include:

• 270 Micros: Adam Gottschling of Salineville.

• Sportsman Classics: Steve Mix Jr. of Salem.

• Sportsman Mods: Chris Martin of Akron.

• Mod Lites: Blake Robbins of North Benton.

• Junior Sportsmans: Brock VanFossen of Carrollton.

• Junior Sprints: Karson Tucke of Canton.

Tickets for the final weekly series races on Saturday are $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6-10. Five and under are free.

Grandstands open at 3:30 p.m. with racing scheduled for 6 p.m.
