Martucci duo puts West Branch into next round

BELOIT -- West Branch made short work of Ravenna with an 8-0 win in a Div. IV boys soccer sectional opener on Monday.
The game was stopped in the second half due to the tournament mercy rule which automatically ends any game that has an eight goal or higher differential in the second half.
Dane Martucci had five goals for the Warriors, while Reed Martucci added a goal and two assists. Leonel Leon Gonzalez added two assists. Mason Thomas had a goal and assist. Michael McCartney had two assists.
The third-seeded Warriors (13-3-1) will host No. 42 seeded Brooklyn on Saturday in the sectional final.
Ravenna (1-16-1) was the 38th seed.
NORTON 1, SALEM 0
SALEM -- Norton was seeded 22 positions below Salem in the Div. III Northeast district boys soccer draw, but only one goal mattered on Monday at Sebo Stadium.
The 40th seeded Panthers (7-9-1) pulled off the shocker with a 1-0 win over the 18th-seeded Quakers, 12-5-1.
Norton will travel to No. 31 Nordonia on Saturday in the sectional final.
LAKEVIEW 1, CRESTVIEW 0
COLUMBIANA -- The Crestview boys soccer team came into the Div. IV tournament as the 18th seed in the district.
The Lakeview Bulldogs, seeded 22nd, came to Crestview on Monday and pulled off a 1-0 upset of the Rebels.
Crestview ends its season at 15-3.
Lakeview is 9-5-3 and will be at No. 18 Ursuline on Saturday.
TUSKY VALLEY 6, EAST LIVERPOOL 0
ZOARVILLE -- East Liverpool’s girls soccer team had a short stay in the Div. IV soccer tournament.
Tuscarawas Valley put an end to the Potters’ season with a 6-0 sectional win on Monday.
The score was 4-0 at the half.
The second-seeded Trojans (15-2-1) advance to host No. 5 Philo next Monday in a district semifinal.
East Liverpool, the 13th seed, falls to 6-10-1. The Potters had won five straight coming into this game.
