FOOTBALL DEGREE

There are 2,687 college graduates playing college football for 288 schools at all levels this season, according to the National Football Foundation.

Every FBS team boasts a college graduate. FBS teams average 12.8 graduates with 1,728 FBS athletes.

Northwestern and Virginia lead the FBC for the second straight year with 28 graduate each.

The Citadel leads the FCS with 21 graduates.

Division II Southern Nazarene (Oklahoma) leads all schools with 29 graduates on the football team.

RAIDERS BEAT TITANS

ALLIANCE -- The Mount Union women’s volleyball team beat Westminster (Pa.), 21-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-12, for a fourth straight win Wednesday.

Mount Union (6-2) was led by Zoe Sweigart with a career-high 19 kills and Delani Durst had a team-high 28 assists.

For Westminster (5-5), Salem High School graduate Zoie Reid had four kills and one dig and Brooke Gecina had 17 digs and one assist.

MILLER LEADS POTTERS

CARROLLTON -- East Liverpool senior Christopher Miller was the top local runner at the Carrollton Warpath Invitational on Saturday.

Miller was fifth out of 92 boys runners in 18:05.48. East Liverpool senior Andrew Dalton was 53rd (23:11.35).

Carrollton topped seven teams in the boys meet with 37 points.

Indian Valley -- with the top four finishers -- won the nine-team girls meet with 16 points. There were 80 girls runners.

Southern Local girls included senior Ava Reed in 24th (25:19.90), junior Maddie Garner 44th (28:13.40), senior Cassiel Myers 73rd (36:30.80) and senior Myleah Parrish 79th (39:20.00).
