COLUMBIANA -- Crestview’s girls soccer team withstood the high temperatures and humidity on Monday on its way to a 9-0 victory over Mineral Ridge.
In a match where there were almost constant substitutions, the Rebels were dialed in early. Freshman Chloe Houck netted the Rebels first two goals with the second coming on a header off a rebound off the bar with 25:16 left in the first half.
Senior Isabella Novak got into the swing of things with goals at the 16:18 and 12:56 mark in a half that featured eight Rebel goals.
Senior Maddie Long also put one over the goal line and into the side netting to make it 5-0. She also had two assists.
Junior captain Shelby Wellman scored a hat trick in four minutes and 40 seconds to close the first half. Wellman leads the team with nine goals on the season.
Sophomore Clarice Harroff had a second half goal for Crestview.
Other assists came from Wellman, Haley Harbour, Delaney Hively, Houck and Delia Huston.
In goal, Harroff and Long had two saves each.
The Rebels are 4-3 and 3-2 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference. Crestview hosts Pymatuning Valley at 10 a.m. Saturday.
COLUMBIANA 3, GIRARD 0
COLUMBIANA -- Columbiana’s Rocco Mediate had a hat trick as Columbiana beat Girard 3-0 on Monday in boys soccer action.
Jay Harrington added two assists while Geoffrey Malcolmson also had an assist. Beckett Wilson had 15 saves in goal.
Columbiana is 5-0 and is at Newton Falls on Wednesday.
SALEM 2, BOARDMAN 0
BOARDMAN -- Salem’s girls soccer team downed Boardman 2-0 on Monday.
Ava Lee tallied the first goal with a long shot at 32:20 of the first half.
Brianna Dicross had the other goal off a rebound with 29:39 to go in the second half.
Salem is 3-3 and hosts Marlington on Wednesday.
WEST BRANCH 5, BERKSHIRE 0
BELOIT -- West Branch’s girls soccer team hammered Berkshire 5-0 on Monday.
The Warriors are 6-0 and have only given up two goals so far this season.
Elli Colian had two goals, while Caidee Schroeder, Ellie Tucker and Grace Bates had single tallies. Tucker, Colian, Schroeder and Cambrie Nezbeth had assists. Audrey Eaton had four saves in goal.
West Branch won the jayvee portion 3-0. Bri Clark, Carleigh Sanor and Addison Lee scored.
West Branch will host Carrollton on Wednesday.
COLUMBIANA 1, GIRARD 1
GIRARD -- Annah Clemmer’s goal gave the Columbiana girls soccer team a 1-1 draw at Girard on Monday.
The Clippers host Indian Creek today in the first game on the new turf at the Ward Athletic Complex. A ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 4:45 p.m. with the game to follow.
UNITED 10, INDIAN CREEK 1
HANOVERTON -- United’s girls soccer team defeated Indian Creek 10-1 on Monday.
Elliana Powers had three goals and two assists for the Eagles. Kylie Holmes added three goals and an assist.
Hailey Chuck had two goals. Addy Wright and Maddie Figley had single goal tallies. Bella Thompson had two assists, while Heather Shipley added an assist.
United is 5-0 and hosts Steubenville Central at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
