MCDONALD -- Beaver Local senior Luke Warrick and the Beavers' boys cross country team earned second-place finishes at the Billy Goal Challenge Saturday at Woodland Park.
Streetsboro topped the boys team standings with 68 points, followed by Beaver Local with 93. Columbiana was fifth with 140.
Warrick finished the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 23.70 seconds -- trailing McDonald sophomore Owen Cappuzzello by 43 seconds. Both ran at the state cross country meet last year.
Beaver Local had three of the top 10 finishers with Warrick, senior Mason Boggs in eighth and senior Cole Long in 10th.
Columbiana junior Jace Zelonish was fourth.
McDonald won the girls team title with 36 points, followed by Crestwood with 82 and Columbiana 83.
McDonald junior Naomi Sheesley repeated as the girls winner (19:53.01) after finishing second as a freshman.
