COLUMBIANA -- The Columbiana volleyball team is going after a fourth-straight Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title.
The Clippers opened league play by sweeping Southern Local, 25-8, 25-16, 25-7, Tuesday.
Eva Waller and Keagan Pruitt combined for 26 points for the Clippers. Waller had 14 points, three aces, three kills, 29 assists and two digs and Pruitt 12 points, three aces, five kills and 14 digs. Ava Marks had 10 points, five kills and 14 digs; Landry Smith seven points, two aces, seven kills and two digs; and Addison Dangler two points, eight kills, three blocks and four digs.\
For the Indians, Kalayah Crute had seven kills, Katie Kellogg five kills, Kiah Sloan three kills. Addy Martin had five digs and Eliana Forbes and Delaney Beadnell each with five assists.
Columbiana is 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the EOAC. Southern is 0-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Columbiana also won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-17.
Annabelle Church had 11 kills, seven points and three aces for the Clippers. Briley Schmidt contributed 11 points, four aces, three kills, 10 assists and two digs; Adelaide Garrett four points, two aces, two kills, three assists and five digs; and Riley Fisk six kills and three digs.
Peyton Dowling had four points for the Indians.
Columbiana will play at Lisbon on Thursday.
Southern will host Wellsville for a varsity-only contest at 6 p.m. Thursday.
EAST PALESTINE 3, LISBON 1
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The East Palestine volleyball team improved to 3-1 overall with a 20-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-14 win over Lisbon in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference opener Tuesday.
Marley Blythe had nine kills, 17 digs and eight points for the Bulldogs. Destiney Burtyk had 10 kills, 12 digs and seven points; Kennedy Andre 18 assists, six digs, seven points and five aces and Madilyn Zimmerman nine digs.
Lisbon won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-9.
The Bulldogs were led by Aliviana Valingo with four kills and four digs and Delaney Demster with nine digs and three points
East Palestine will play at Valley Christian on Thursday.
UNITED 3, VALLEY 0
HANOVERTON -- United swept Valley Christian, 25-9, 25-6, 25-4, in Eastern Buckeye Conference play Tuesday.
Leaders for the Eagles were Brennan Ritchie with seven kills, Rileah Phillips 19 assists and Scarlett Courtney 13 points.
United also won the junior varsity match, 25-9, 25-12. Adrianna Zane-Beadnell and Aubrey Danko each had eight points with six aces for the Eagles. Cara Baker had six points with four aces.
BEAVER 3, MINERVA 0
MINERVA -- The Beaver Local volleyball team swept Minerva in three games Tuesday.
Addie Thurik totaled 19 kills, 10 assists, two aces, seven digs and two blocks to lead the Beavers.
Lily Schrieber had 13 kills, 10 assists, two aces and five digs; Leah Schrieber two kills, three aces and 12 digs; ianna Congrove 10 digs; Madison Poppelriter two kills and four digs; McKinnley Ferry 12 assists, four aces and four digs; Olivia Opalenik three kills; and Taylor Pease two aces and 11 digs.
The Beavers also won the junior varsity match, 25-20, 21-25, 25-20. Makayla Jungfleisch paced the Beavers with seven kills, three aces and 13 digs. Jess Layman had six kills and six digs, Daisy McKnight six kills and Kylie Gbur 18 assists.
Minerva won the freshman match, 25-19, 25-14. 19-25, 14-25. For Beaver Local, Maddie Smith had three kills, six assists and two aces; Kylie Gbur two kills and seven assists; and Sophia Pease three kills.
The Beavers play again at Indian Creek at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
EAST LIVERPOOL 3, OAK GLEN 1
NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. -- East Liverpool knocked off Oak Glen, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, in volleyball action Tuesday.
For East Liverpool, Cameron Conley had five aces 21 assists. Addie Jones had six kills, while Hailey Board had two aces, six kills and five blocks. Addi Smith had four kills and a block. Kendall Martin chipped in 16 kills and a block. Addisyn Boyle had two blocks. Taylor Loedding had two aces and two assists 22 digs. Peyton Tanner added an ace and seven assists. Lillie White had two aces.
For Oak Glen, Zoey Caughey had 12 kills, Mikalyn Balch had 10 kills and 24 assists. Naomi Ayers had nine kills, Audrina May had eight kills, Mattie Carney had six kills and Laikynn Eckleberry had four kills. Bryson Adams had 20 assists. Keira Vick had 16 digs, Kendall Six had 13 digs and Layla Skavenski had five digs.
Oak Glen won the jayvee portion, 25-23, 25-20.
For the Oak Glen reserves, Kennedy Staley had 10 kills and Kaia Parish had five kills. Elynn Rogers had 33 assists. Theresa Robinson had seven assists. Katie Kliner had 11 digs.
For East Liverpool, Ava Wesney had five aces. Katelyn Reeder had three kills and a block.
East Liverpool (2-0) will host Harrison Central on Thursday.
Oak Glen (5-2) hosts Doddridge County and Tyler on Saturday.
