YOUNGSTOWN -- It's been a perfect start for the Columbiana volleyball team, which hasn't dropped a game in four matches this season.
The Clippers had another sweep, this time against Youngstown Mooney for a 25-11, 25-13, 25-22 win Saturday.
Keagan Pruitt had 11 points, three aces and 10 digs for the Clippers. Landry Smith had seven points, nine kills and three digs; Addison Dangler six points, nine kills and three blocks; Eva Waller six points, 26 assists and four digs; Ava Marks seven kills and four digs; and Lily Jackson 13 digs.
Columbiana also won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-9.
Briley Schmidt led the Clippers with 18 points, five aces and 10 assists. Annabelle Church had six points, four kills and four digs; Adelaide Garrett six points, three aces and three digs; Sylvia Rapp six points, three kills and four digs; and Keegan Reynolds eight digs.
Columbiana visits Wellsville on Tuesday for a varsity-only contest.
BULLDOGS SPLIT
EAST PALESTINE -- East Palestine split a trig-match on Saturday.
The Bulldogs opened by beating Western Reserve, 25-10, 25-15; then Warren JFK topped Western Reserve, 25-18, 25-20; and Warren JFK bested East Palestine, 25-21, 25-7.
For East Palestine in the opener, Kennedy Andre totaled 11 points, six aces and 10 assists; Destiney Burtyk five kills, four digs and five points; Cadence Vargo six digs and three kills; and Emma Gingher 13 points with four aces.
Against Warren JFK, East Palestine's Kennedy Andre had 10 assists, four digs, eight points and three aces; Destiney Burtyk five kills and nine digs; and Jacklyn Ogle five digs and two aces.
East Palestine (5-2) will host Youngstown Mooney on Tuesday.
In the junior varsity match Saturday, East Palestine beat Warren JFK, 25-12, 24-26, 15-9.
For the Bulldogs, Aubrey Oltmann had 14 points, three aces, seven kills and eight digs; Aliviana Valingo 10 points, five aces, six kills and 12 digs; and Delaney Demster 10 digs.
SALEM 3, HEARTLAND 1
COLUMBIANA -- Salem prevailed over Heartland Christian in four games Saturday.
Salem also swept the junior varsity match.
Both teams play Monday as Salem (4-1) travels to Ravenna Southeast and Heartland goes to Campbell Memorial.
