Clippers off to unbeaten start

GIRARD -- The Columbiana boys golf team is off to a 10-0 start after taking a tri-match Thursday at Mahoning County Club.

The Clippers shot a 162, followed by Youngstown Ursuline with a 176 and Girard with a 183.

Columbiana was led by David Masters with a 37, Trenton Hall 39, Roman Sanfrey 41 and Nick Klindworth 45.

Girard’s Mason Odvar shot a 39. Ursuline’s Dean Herriman and Preston Walker each had 41s.

Columbiana will play in the South Range Invitational on Tuesday at Youngstown Country Club.

WEST BRANCH 183, SALEM 204

SALEM -- The West Branch boys golf team topped Salem, 183-204, Thursday at Salem Hills.

Karson Fuson led the Warriors with a 40. Bennett Biggs had a 47 and Ashton Clay and Colton Ghezzi each had 48s.

For Salem, Donald Blackburn shot a 45,  Eli James  and Caden Arcuri  had 50s and Kendal King a 59

West Branch will play Marlington at 11:30 a.m. today at Tannenhauf.

Salem (1-7) will taken on Hubbard at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Lakes.

COLUMBIANA 174, MOONEY 259

COLUMBIANA -- Claire Banner shot a 39 in leading the Columbiana girls golf team past Youngstown Mooney, 174-259, Thursday at Valley.

Victoria Buckingham followed with a 42, Macy Fletcher 46 and Nia Missos 47.

The Clippers improve to 6-1 on the season.

Giada DeSantis topped the Cardinals with a 56.

Columbiana will play Canfield and Austintown Fitch on Wednesday at the Salem Golf Club.

MINERVA 173, WEST BRANCH 201

MINERVA -- The Minerva golf team improved to 8-0 on the season by downing West Branch, 173-201, Thursday at Great Trail.

Minerva’s Peyton Beaumariage had the low round with a 35. Emery Sell and Delaney Sell added 42s and Savanna Bartley and Tempi Muck had 54s.

For West Branch, Isabella Linger had a 46, Emma McLaughlin 47, Zoe Metzger 51 and Katelyn Schank and Leah Barnett had 57s.

Minerva will host Carrollton at 4 p.m. Monday at Great Trail.
