BIG DAY FOR BOSTON
WARREN -- Kaitlyn Boston holed out from 25 yards out on the 15th hole to lead Southern in a quad with Mineral Ridge, Austintown Fitch and Jackson-Milton on Tuesday at Duck Creek.
Mineral Ridge won with a 187, followed by Fitch with a 209, Southern 222 and Jackson-Milton 229.
For Southern, Rylee Digman had a 49, Boston 53, Ava Reed 59 and Aubrey Potts 61. Southern is at Columbiana today.
MINERVA WINS ANOTHER TOURNEY
ZOARVILLE -- Minerva’s girls golf team captured the Tri-County Preseason Tournament title with a team total of 334 on Tuesday at Zoar Golf Course. It was the third tournament title for the Lions this season.
Leading the way was Peyton Beaumariage with a 79. Delaney Sell and Savanna Bartley had 84s. Emery Sell added an 87.
Ashland had a 386 to finish second and Marlington was third in the 17-team tournament with a 388.
West Branch was seventh with a 409. Emma McLaughlin had a 90 and finished in 12th place. Zoe Metzger added a 98. Isabella Linger had a 102 and Maddie Dye 119.
QUAKERS FALL TO MINERVA
SALEM -- Minerva defeated Salem 164-184 in a boys golf match Tuesday at Salem Hills.
Gabe Leek and Caden Arcuri each shot 45 to lead the Quakers. Eli James carded a 46 and Donald Blackburn added a 48.
Minerva was led by Tyson Fetty and William Blackburn, who shared medalist honors with rounds of 40. Benjamin Smith and Hudson Peterson each finished with 42.
Salem is 1-1 in league play. The Quakers will face Beaver Local on Thursday at Turkana.
