Another high finish for Columbiana golfers

YOUNGSTOWN -- Columbiana’s boys golf team finished third out of 19 teams Tuesday at the South Range Invitational at the Youngstown Country Club.

The Clippers shot 337 as a team.

Trenton Hall was sixth overall with an 80. Also for the Clippers, Nick Klindworth had an 84, Luke Struharik 86 and David Masters 87.

Mooney -- led by medalist Tyler Guerrieri’s 73 -- was first with a 330 and Canfield Black was second with a 334.

Host South Range finished ninth with a 356. For the Raiders, Mark Aey shot an 85, Braden Meshula 88, Brennan Proya 89 and Parker Winger 94.

West Branch was 19th with a 406. For the Warriors, Karson Fuson had a 91, Ashton Clay 101, Bennett Biggs 103 and Colton Ghezzi 111.

BEAVER 141, CARROLLTON 145

CALCUTTA -- The Beaver Local boys golf team avenged a season-opening loss to with a 141-145 win Tuesday at Beaver Creek Meadows.

The Beavers had five players shoot in the 30s, led by Andre Wiegand with a 33. Eli Stewart had a 34, Nathan Pusateri 36, Brady McNear 38 and Britton Hickman 39.

Beaver Local (6-2) will host Indian Creek at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Beaver Creek Meadows.

LIONS UNBEATEN

ALLIANCE -- The Minerva girls golf team moved to 12-0 on the season with wins over Marlington and Akron Manchester at Tannenhauf on Tuesday.

The Lions shot a 190 to outdistance Marlington with a 206 and AManchester with a 256.

Minerva’s Peyton Beaumariage and Marlington’s Lillian Peterson had the low round with 45s. Also for Minerva, Emery Sell and Savanna Bartley had 48s and Delaney Sell 49.

United will host Minerva, Heartland Christian and Crestwood at Edgewater on Thursday.
