Beaver Local and United’s softball teams showed off a lot of skill and talent in their excellent seasons and for that the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association rewarded the Beavers and Eagles with spots on the 2026 All-Ohio softball teams.
In Div. IV, Beaver Local sophomore pitcher Addie Thurik was named a first team selection. In Div. VI, United sophomore catcher Callie Koons was named to the second team.
Thurik did it all for the Beavers went 24-5 in a season which saw them win Buckeye 8 and OVAC titles. At the plate, Thurik led the team with a .455 average. She added a team-high 46 hits and 43 runs. Her 12 doubles was the most on the team. She also had three triples and five home runs. In the circle, she went 17-4 with a 2.09 ERA. She struck 215 and walked just 28. She also had a 15-strikeout performance in a five-inning game while in Myrtle Beach.
“Addie is known for her ability to ignite the team’s energy before games, she combined elite athletic talent with a natural leadership ability that brought out the best in her teammates,” coach Kathryn Neville said. “She was instrumental in fostering a collaborative team culture, consistently leading by example and maintaining her composure in high-stakes moments.”
Thurik will be a part of a young core returning for Beaver Local.
“Retaining Addie is a massive boost for our program as we look to build on our current momentum,” Neville said. “Her dedication to the off-season work ethic is exactly what drives our in-season success. Addie is an exceptional student-athlete who pairs a remarkable work ethic with great character. It is incredibly exciting to think about what she will accomplish, both on and off the field.”
Koons led the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference champions with a .563 batting average. She also had 40 hits, 10 doubles and two triples with 41 runs and 26 RBIs.
“Callie is a well rounded player,” United coach Jennifer Koons said. “She is very polished behind the plate and disciplined in the batters box. She led the team in batting average and on-base percentage and is as consistent as they come as a hitter. She is a great offensive player but her skillset as a catcher is definitely what sets her apart. She is a great defensive catcher and leader, she brings energy to her team behind the plate and encourages her pitchers.”
Beaver Local sophomore Brylee Curtis and United’s Chloe Angelo were All-Ohio honorable mentions.
Curtis had a massive offensive season for the Beavers as she socked four homers in a game against Edison, the 11th player to do so according the Ohio High School Athletic Association. She also had five home runs in five consecutive at-bats across two games.
Curtis had a .411 average, a team-high nine home runs and 36 RBIs. She had 39 hits, 10 doubles and three triples.
“She brought a level of poise and composure to the field that completely stabilized our defense, and her ability to work with each pitcher was unmatched,” Neville said. “Her dedication in the off-season completely transformed her game, which showed in her phenomenal fielding stats and record-breaking home run power. More than that, the connections she made with her teammates created a culture where everyone wanted to work harder and get better during practice.”
Angelo batted .562 with 18 doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 42 RBIs and 45 runs for the Eagles.
“Chloe is a generational hitter, she is very aggressive at the plate and hits the ball hard,” Jennifer Koons said. “She has school records in career hits, single season hits, single season doubles and single season runs. It is so fun to watch her in the box. Every time she steps in I know she will make something happen. She is a great player all around, but her offense is definitely what sets her apart. She led the team in runs, hits and doubles.”
