HILLSDALE NEXT FOR UNITED

WOOSTER — United will play second-seeded Jeromesville Hillsdale in a Division VI district final at 5 p.m. today at Wooster Triway.

Hillsdale advanced by beating up 21st-seeded Newton Falls, 21-1, in five innings Tuesday.

Macy Mager tossed a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Hillsdale, which pounded out 10 extra-base hits.

Emily Smith and Jordyn Fickes both hit home runs. Aurora Martin went 4-for-4 with three runs and Fickes drove in four runs.

Hillsdale (18-7) and finished third in the Wayne County League behind Norwayne and Dalton.

United (19-6) is in the district championship for the first time.

HEARTLAND PLAYS TODAY

UNITY — Heartland Christian’s baseball sectional tournament game was moved two days because the Lions have graduation on Friday night.

Ninth-seeded Heartland Christian (10-13) will host 19th-seeded Southern Local (5-12) at 5 p.m. today at Ace of Diamonds.

Heartland beat Southern 11-1 on May 5.

AMERICAN LEGION SCRAMBLE

LEETONIA — The Leetonia Sons of the American Legion annual fundraiser for the S.A.L. Needy Children’s Christmas Fund will be held June 6 at Valley Golf Club.

Tee times for the nine-hole, four-person scramble start at 12:30 p.m.

Cost is $40 per person, which includes green fees, cart, prizes, food and beverage.
