Oak Glen takes University visit

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — University beat Oak Glen, 13-2, in regular-season play Tuesday to sweep the season series from the Golden Bears.

University improves to 23-5, while Oak Glen drops to 18-11.

Winning pitcher Maddie Campbell gave up three hits in four innings and Sophia Lehosit pitched a hitless inning.

Maci Hartung hit a two-run double in the fourth inning to account for Oak Glen’s scoring. Mikalyn Balch and Mattie Carney added hits.

Campbell topped University by going 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run, three RBIs and three runs. Adalyn Brown tripled, doubled and drove in three runs. Carley Voithofer doubled, singled and drove in three runs.

Oak Glen is scheduled to play at Weir today in a egular-season matchup between a pair of Region 1 champions.

CORTLAND — MacKenzie Stowe hit a grand slam and Isabella Isenberg struck out 10 as second-seeded Lakeview blanked 20th-seeded Salem, 11-0, in five innings in a Division IV district semifinal Monday.

Hadley Carlisle and Lacie Gainor had both of Salem’s hits.

The Quakers finish at 8-14 with their first district appearance since 1997.

Lakeview improves to 21-5 with the five losses coming by a combined eight runs.

Lakeview will play the 11th-seeded Shaker Heights Laurel-14th-seeded Canal Fulton Northwest winner at 5 p.m. Thursday at Lakeview High School.
