East Liverpool tames EOAC co-leaders

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool had just two hits but it was enough to subdue Lisbon, 3-1 on Tuesday in baseball action.

Donovan Shallcross had a double for the Potters, while Ricky Stanley added a single.

Shallcross was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.

Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference co-leader Lisbon was led by Paxton Henthorne’s two hits.

Brady Carpenter took the loss with two strikeouts and a walk in 1 2/3 innings.

East Liverpool is 4-19 and hosts Bellaire today.

Lisbon (12-8) is scheduled to host United today.

Martins Ferry 5, Oak Glen 2

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — A four-run second inning led Martins Ferry to a 5-2 win over Oak Glen on Tuesday.

The Bears managed just four singles.

James Rohbeck took the loss with two walks and seven strikeouts in six innings.

Oak Glen (10-20) hosts Beaver Local today.

Newton Falls 3, Crestview 2

COLUMBIANA — Newton Falls swept the season series from Crestview with a 3-2 win on Tuesday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Division play.

Eli Cope had a single and double for the Rebels. Isaac Unkefer aded two hits.

Unkefer was also the losing pitcher with two strikeouts and walk in two innings.

Crestview is 12-9 overall and 6-7 in the league. The Rebels are at Warren JFK today.

Marlington 6, Columbiana 2

COLUMBIANA — Marlington outdueled Columbiana 6-2 on Tuesday in baseball action at Firestone Park.

Drennen Bosela had had two hits including a double for the Clippers. Sam Inboden had two hits.

Jackson Davis took the loss with two walks and a strikeouts in seven innings.

Columbiana is 9-13 and hosts Heartland on Thursday.

Canfield 4, West Branch 3

CANFIELD — Ryan Weibling was hit by a pitch with bases loaded in the seventh and Canfield sneaked out a 4-3 win over West Branch on Tuesday.

Jeremiah Thomas had two of West Branch’s three hits. Carson Wike was the losing pitcher with a walk and no strikeouts in an inning of work.

West Branch is 6-12 and is at Ursuline today.

East Palestine 13, Southern 3

UNITY — East Palestine scored nine runs in the first inning in a 13-3 win over Southern Local in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

For East Palestine, Peyton Rutledge had a triple, single and three RBIs. Kealin Simon and Mason Gorby each had a double. Clark Rutledge had two hits and an RBI.

Brad Bartels was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts and no walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Jack Pitts had two hits for the Indians.

Mason Sosack was the losing pitcher with four walks and two strikeouts in three innings.

East Palestine is 10-9 and 7-5 in the EOAC. The Bulldogs are slated to host Springfield on Thursday.

Southern is 5-12 and 3-9 in the league. The Indians are scheduled to be at Heartland on May 22 for a tournament game.
