Clippers drop Eagles
Columbiana 6, United 5
HANOVERTON — Columbiana has made things interesting in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference baseball race.
Facing elimination from league contention if they lost on Monday, the Clippers got an RBI double from Hunter Davanzo in the eighth inning to hand United its first league loss with a 6-5 win.
Columbiana is 9-9 overall and 7-2 in the EOAC. United slipped to 12-5 overall and 9-1 in the league. Lisbon also has one league loss. The Eagles will play the Clippers at Firestone Park on Thursday.
In the seventh inning, Liam McElwain walked with bases loaded and two outs to score Beckett Wilson to tie the game at 5.
United had a four-run outburst in the third with Quentin Taylor socking an RBI single while Nick Lutes had a two-run double. Cavan Jackson also had an RBI double.
Wilson had a three-run double with two outs in the third inning.
United is back in action today at Beaver Local. Columbiana is at Austintown on Wednesday.

Lisbon 9, Leetonia 0
LISBON — Lisbon stayed in the hunt in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 9-0 win over Leetonia on Monday.
For Lisbon, Bryce Esarey had a home run and three RBIs. Brady Carpenter, Aiden Myers and Nick Peruchetti had two hits each.
Carpenter was the winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.
King took the loss for Leetonia as he walked eight and struck out one in four innings.
Lisbon is 10-6 overall and 5-1 in the league. The Devils are now tied with the United for the league lead.
Leetonia fell to 4-10 and 1-6 in the league. The two teams play on Wednesday at Leetonia.

Wellsville at East Palestine (DH)
UNITY — East Palestine’s baseball team swept Wellsville in a doubleheader on Monday at Ace of Diamonds.
In the first game, Shane Newman had two hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs who won 10-1. Steve Telischak had two singles and three RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Simon was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and four walks in five innings.
Cooper Frank took the loss with no strikeouts and two walks in four innings.
In the second game, East Palestine won 10-0 in four innings.
Luke Kinkead had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs. Peyton Rutledge hits two-run double. Brad Bartels got the win with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Ethan Morris had Wellsville’s only hit in the second game.
Colin Kessler took the loss with five earned runs, three walks and no strikeouts over seven batters.
East Palestine improved to 7-9 and 5-5 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.
Wellsville is 0-13 and 0-8 in the EOAC.
East Palestine will host Badger on Wednesday.
Wellsville is at East Liverpool on Friday.

LEAVITSBURG — Landon Brunstetter struck out 18 and limited Crestview to one hit in LaBrae’s 7-0 win over the Rebels on Monday.
Kyle Booth took the loss for Crestview as he had three strikeouts and no walks over 4 1/3 innings.
Crestview fell to 12-5 and 6-3 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.
The two teams play again today at Crestview.

Martins Ferry 8, Beaver Local 1
CALCUTTA — Martins Ferry marched to a 8-1 win over Beaver Local on Monday in baseball action.
Reid Schwerha had two of Beaver Local’s six hits.
Braxton Hickman was the losing pitcher with three strikeouts and four walks over 3 2/3 innings.
Beaver Local is 12-9 and will host United today.

WEIRTON, W.Va. — Madonna collected 16 hits in its 20-6 win over East Liverpool on Monday.
For East Liverpool, Carstin Suznevich had three hits and three RBIs. Braden Duke added two hits and two RBIs.
Cooper Klein was the losing pitcher with three walks and two strikeouts in two innings.
East Liverpool is 2-18 and host Bellaire on Wednesday.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s baseball team took out Bellaire 15-0 in three innings on Monday.
Christian Chappell had a single, double, triple and five RBIs for the Bears. Josh Maher added a single and double with two RBIs.
James Rohbeck was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts over 11 batters.
Oak Glen is 9-17 and will host Williamstown on Wednesday.
