Lisbon stays in chase

Lisbon 17, Southern 2

SALINEVILLE — Lisbon’s baseball team beat up Southern, 17-2, in five innings on Monday.

Bryce Esarey had two triples and two RBIs for the Devils. Logan Sturgeon had a single, double, triple and two RBIs. Ashton Hinchliffe added a double and two RBIs. Nick Peruchetti had two hits and two RBIs.

Sturgeon was the winning pitcher with three walks and seven strikeouts in five innings.

Mason Sosack had two hits for Southern. Mason Pitts took the loss with four strikeouts and two walks in four innings.

Southern is 3-9 overall and 3-6 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Lisbon is 8-7 and 5-1 in the EOAC.

Southern will be at Lisbon on Wednesday.

United at Wellsville (DH)

WELLSVILLE — United is closing in on the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title.

The Eagles remain unbeaten in the league after 15-0 and 13-0 wins over Wellsville in on Monday.

In the first game, Quentin Taylor had two hits and three RBIs, as did Cavan Jackson. Jason Pratt chipped in two hits as well.

Carter Simmons was the winning pitcher as he threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Austin Watkins took the loss with six walks, eight earned runs and two strikeouts in an inning.

United had five hits in the second game but was aided by nine Wellsville walks and three hit batters.

Nick Lutes hit a double for the winners, while also being the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts and a walk while giving up no hits.

Colin Kessler was the losing pitcher with eight walks and no strikeouts for Wellsville.

United is 12-4 and 9-0 in the EOAC. The Eagles lead the league by one game with three to play. The Golden Eagles will host East Liverpool on Thursday.

Wellsville is 0-11 and 0-5 in the league. The Tigers will host Lisbon on Thursday.

Columbiana 23, Leetonia 2

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana brought the bats on Monday as the Clippers dropped Leetonia 23-3 in five innings.

Hunter Davanzo had two doubles, a single and five RBIs for the winners. Drennen Bosela homered, singled and had two RBIs. Beckett Wilson had two hits and three RBIs.

Ethan Lehnerd got the win with four strikeouts and two walks in two innings.

Dylan Brown a double for the Bears. Sam Falk was the losing pitcher with three walks and seven earned runs in an inning.

Columbiana is 8-8 and 6-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The Clippers are at Leetonia on Wednesday.

Leetonia is 4-7 and 1-6 in the league.

Crestview 6, Garfield 5

COLUMBIANA — Grant Snyder’s single scored Kyle Booth in the seventh inning as Crestview outlasted Garfield 6-5 on Monday.

Caleb Booth had two hits and two RBIs. Wyatt Ervin added two hits and an RBI.

Eli Cope, Isaac Unkefer and Kyle Booth all had two hits.

Snyder was the winning pitcher with four walks and seven strikeouts in four innings.

Crestview is 9-4 and 4-3 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division.

The Rebels are at Garfield today.

Heartland 4, Youngstown East 2

YOUNGSTOWN — Jacob Goehring had three hits and an RBI in Heartland’s 4-2 win over Youngstown East on Monday.

Jack Morgan had a single, double and a hit. Brennan Murray had two hits.

Alex Hamilton was the winning pitcher as he struck out four and walked two in 3 1/3 innings.

Heartland is 5-8 and is at Lowellville today.

Weir 3, Beaver 0

CALCUTTA — Aleks Zanieski struck out 14 and walked four while limiting Beaver Local to one hit in Weir’s 3-0 win on Monday.

Peyton Martin took the loss for Beaver with five strikeouts and three walks over 5 1/3 innings.

Beaver Local is 11-8 and hosts East Palestine on Thursday.

Brooke 3, Oak Glen 2

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Andrew Murdock was hit by a pitch with one out and bases loaded in the seventh inning to give Brooke a 3-2 win over Oak Glen on Monday.

James Rohbeck had a single and double for the Bears.

Rohbeck went 6 1/3 innings for the Bears with 10 strikeouts and three walks. Kaden Dragisich hit two batters at the end of the game.

Oak Glen is 8-13 and hosts Bellaire on Friday.
