Beavers’ Curtis accounts for 10 runs

CALCUTTA — Brylee Curtis went 4-for-4 and accounted for 10 runs in leading Beaver Local past Brooke, 19-1, in five innings Wednesday.

Curtis drove in six runs — including a two-run single in the second inning and a two-run triple in the fourth inning — and scored four more. She added a double and a single.

The Beavers collected 18 hits, including nine for extra bases.

Addie Thurik also went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four runs.Ciara Call homered and doubled with two RBIs and two runs. Ally Wright homered and singled with three RBIs and two runs. Macie Bourne went 3-for-3 with a double, Gianna Congrove scored three runs and Brenna Jones had two hits and two runs.

Call was the winning pitcher, giving up four hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

Leetonia at United

HANOVERTON — Sophomore Jillian Dietrich tossed a no-hitter and the Eagles pounded out 32 hits over eight innings in an 18-0, 14-1 sweep of Leetonia on Wednesday.

Dietrich allowed no runs and struck out 13 with no walks the five-inning opener. She also had two hits and scored two runs.

Madison Aegerter and Peyton Kekel each pitched two innings on a combined one-hitter in the second game. Aegerter struck out eight, while Kekel allowed one hit and struck out five with one walk.

United is 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. Columbiana is 3-0 in league play.

Brittany Miller sparked the Eagles with five hits, including two doubles, and scored five runs in the two games.

Callie Koons drove in five runs; Danika Anderson had four hits and three RBIs; Kendall Erb had three hits, four runs and three RBIs; Caitlyn Roller had three hits and four RBIs; and Chloe Angelo drove in three RBIs and three runs

Emily West had Leetonia’s lone hit.

Leetonia is 0-7 and 0-4 in the EOAC. The Bears will host St. Thomas Aquinas today.

United entertains Chaney on Saturday.

SALINEVILLE — Raelea Carosiello hit a two-run double, while Destiny Huffman and Makenna Jones had RBI singles in a four-run sixth inning that gave Southern an 8-7 win over Wellsville on Wednesday.

Carosiello went 4-for-4 with a triple, a double, four runs and two RBIs.

Addy Martin got the win, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings. She allowed one run on one hit with one strikeout.

Southern improves to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The Indians will host Leetonia on Friday.

Madilynn Drysdale went 3-for-4 for the Tiger with two runs. Madelyn Landess hit a double and Chloe Kessler scored two runs.

Wellsville is 3-5 and 2-3 in the EOAC. The Tigers will play at Columbiana on Monday.

COLUMBIANA — Mineral Ridge outscored Columbiana 5-0 over the last three innings to rally for a 6-5 win Wednesday.

Mineral Ridge improves to 7-2, while Columbiana lost its first game to fall to 4-1.

Maddie Gerberry led the Rams with three hits, including two doubles.

Landry Smith had three hits and Callahan Ward two for the Clippers. Ella Eisensbraun hit a double.

Columbiana will host Wheeling Central today.

WARREN — The top of the lineup for the Salem Quakers did what they are supposed to do.

Emilee Lewis and Mikayla Sneltzer each scored three runs to put the Quakers on their way to a 19-6 win over Warren Harding in five innings Wednesday.

Morgan Colian hit a double and drove in three runs. Aniya Jones and Lacie Gainor each had two hits

Morgane Blaine and Shae Burkhart collected doubles.

Colian got the victory, giving up one hit in one inning.

The Quakers (1-1) are scheduled to host Minerva today.

BELOIT — A six-run first inning highlighted by Elly Biskup’s two-run single put West Branch on its way to a 13-7 win over Minerva in an Eastern Buckeye Conference opener Wednesday.

Ellie Tucker went 3-for-3 with two triples and three runs, while Sara Schmidt collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, with three RbIs and two runs. Zoey Carreon added two hits and two runs.

Tucker went the distance for the victory. She gave up seven runs, one earned, on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Both teams play today as West Branch (2-3) visits Marlington and Minerva (1-4) hosts Manchester.

EAST LIVERPOOL — Indian Creek got on the board with a six-run fourth inning and downed East Liverpool, 12-3, Wednesday.

Gracie Hollenbeck had three hits and three RBIs for Indian Creek, while Riley Sadler and Payton Rath also had three hits apiece.

For the Potters, Addie Jones, Rayne Faessel and Tatum Fink each hit a double and two singles.Jones driven two runs.

Fink took the loss, giving up 16 hits with 14 strikeouts and three walks.

East Liverpool (4-6) will host Harrison Central on Friday.
