GENEVA, Ohio — Three Columbiana County boys captured state championships at the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Association 2026 indoor high school state track and field meet at the SPIRE Institute on Friday and Saturday.

Salem senior Lucas Adams won the Division II long jump, while East Liverpool senior miler Maddox Roach and Beaver Local junior high jumper Landon Wheatley captured Division III titles.

Adams — who finished ninth at the outdoor state meet in June — topped the Division II long jumpers with a personal-best leap of 22-feet-11 1/4. Columbiana County hasn’t had a 23-foot long jumper since Wellsville state champion Justin Wright in 2019. Warren Harding junior Matthew Richardson was second (22-2 3/4).

East Liverpool senior Maddox Roach was first in the 1600-meter run (4:21.87). He was seventh at the outdoor state meet last year. Roach won by nearly 3 seconds over second-place Chagrin Falls junior Kelan Byrne.

Wheatley won the high jump by clearing a personal-best 6-foot-8 1/4. He was sixth at the outdoor state meet last year. Clear Fork junior Davis Hoeflich was second (6-6).

Other top finishers were Salem freshman Chaya Murray, third in the Division III girls long jump (16-5 3/4); Salem girls 3200-meter relay team in Emily Sinsley, Cassidy Wallace, Liliana Pimentel Alexander and Addison Hopple was third (10:24.44) in Division III; and United senior Brinsley Hiscox was fourth in the Division IV girls 60-meter hurdles (9.67 seconds).

This is the first year the state meet has been expanded from three divisions to four.
