LISBON — Lisbon senior AJ Ramgeet made the Blue Devils an instant winner.

“We had the good group that graduated with (Trevor Siefke and Hunter Dailey) and thought we would be a rebuilding,” Lisbon coach Chris Huckshold said. “My sister decides to bring my nephews back and here we go.”

Ramgeet had the second-highest season point total in school history on the way to gaining Division VI All-Ohio second-team honors Wednesday.

“There’s going to be the records and the scoring he leaves Lisbon with, but the ethic and work he puts in will be his legacy,” Huckshold said.

The Blue Devils finished with a 16-7 record and shared the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title with Columbiana.

Ramgeet led the area in scoring, averaging 24.3 points a game. His well-rounded game included eight rebounds, five assists and three steals per game.

He set a school record for most field goals in a season (221) and ranks second in points in a season (558).

Ramgeet scored 1,000 points in two seasons at Lisbon and 592 points in two seasons at Oak Glen. The Blue Devils are recognizing his 1,592 career points as a school record.

He averaged 17.3 points over 92 career games between Lisbon and Oak Glen.

“He will leave a mark on the program,” Huckshold said.

Columbiana senior Cooper Brown received special mention.

He led the Clippers to a 16-7 season and a share of their third straight EOAC title.

Brown paced the Clippers by averaging 16.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 4.1 blocks a game –all team highs.

“He did a ton for us,” Columbiana coach Todd Johnson. “He stuffed the stat sheet every night. He set the school single-season record for blocks and tied for most assists in a game. He also was our best player on defense. He put us in the best position to win.”
