Lisbon’s Carpenter nails Tigers with no-hitter

LISBON — Brady Carpenter threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks over four innings as Lisbon blanked Wellsville 22-0 in four innings on Monday.
Ashton Hinchliffe had three hits and two RBIs for the Devils. Carpenter had two hits and two RBIs. Marc Moore had two hits and three RBIs. Devin Kelly had a double and Aiden Myers had two hits and two RBIs.
Austin Watkins took the loss with five walks and three strikeouts in two innings.

UNITY — Quentin Taylor threw a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and only one walk in a 16-0 United win over East Palestine in five innings on Monday at Ace of Diamonds.
Nick Lutes had three hits and two RBIs for the winners, while Kadin Schonauer added three hits. Carter Simmons had a double and two RBIs. Cavan Jackson had a single, double and two RBIs.
Kealin Simon was the losing pitcher as he gave up nine earned runs in three innings with three walks and a strikeout.
United (1-1) hosts Malvern today.
East Palestine (0-1) is at United on Wednesday.

LEETONIA — Mason Pitts had two hits and two RBIs to guide Southern to a 4-2 win over Leetonia on Monday.
He also was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
Jason King had a double for the Bears and was the losing pitcher with nine strikeouts and seven walks over six innings.
Southern (1-1) will host Leetonia on Wednesday.
Leetonia 0-1) will be at Southern on Wednesday.

COLUMBIANA — Caleb Booth scored on a fielder’s choice by Eli Cope with two outs in the sixth inning to lead Crestview to a 3-2 win over Brookfield on Monday.
Kyle Booth added a double for the Rebels. Isaac Unkefer had a hit and two RBIs in addition to being the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and a walk in seven innings.
Crestview (1-0) is at Brookfield today.

STRUTHERS — Columbiana opened the season with a 10-0 loss in five innings to Cardinal Mooney on Monday at Cene Park.
Luke Kollar threw a no-hitter for Mooney with four strikeouts and four walks in five innings.
Avery Young was the losing pitcher with two walks and no strikeouts in an inning.
The Clippers will play Oak Glen at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Myrtle Beach.

TORONTO — Toronto’s baseball team had no trouble with East Liverpool in a 10-0 win in five innings Monday.
For the Potters, Donovan Shallcross and Dre Brown had hits.
Dre Brown took the loss giving up four earned runs in two innings with five walks and a strikeout.
East Liverpool (0-2) hosts Edison today.

CANFIELD — Salem dropped a 9-0 fivedecision to Canfield in Monday’s season opener.
Ben Kuboff had the Quakers’ lone hit off Canfield’s starter over five innings and the Quakers struck out 10 times.
Sophomore Bairon Exline started for the Quakers, allowing four runs on five hits with one strikeout in four innings. Sophomore Brady Hendricks pitched in relief.
The Quakers (0-1) will host Lisbon on Friday night at Ray Reasbeck Field.
