Rebels playing like they are on a quest

COLUMBIANA — It was a mismatch on paper and on the basketball court.
Top-seeded Crestview scored 28 points in the first quarter and that was all the Rebels needed in a 69-15 win over 30th-seeded West Salem Northwestern in a Division V sectional final Saturday.
The Rebels improve to 21-2 and will host 31st-seeded Cleveland Collinwood (2-11) in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Addison Rhodes led the charge by scoring 18 of her game-high 32 points in the first quarter. She added eight rebounds.
Backing her were freshman Karli Perry with five three-pointers for 15 points and Brianna Baker with 13 points — hitting 5-of-6 free throws in the opening period — with seven rebounds and five steals. Kerrigan Miller contributed four steals and three assists.
The Rebels led 28-5 after the first quarter and 41-8 at halftime.
Northwestern finishes the season at 1-22, the lone win coming against Wellington on Feb. 12.

Open Door 57, Lisbon 39
LISBON — Open Door Christian freshman Brielle Bendik scored 40 points Saturday and closed the door on Lisbon’s season.
Bendik scored all 18 of her team’s points in the third quarter as the 16th-seeded Patriots pulled away from the 12th-seeded Blue Devils for a 57-39 win in a Division VII sectional final at Nace Gymansium.
Bendik had 12 field goals, including four three-pointers, and was 12-of-16 from the foul line. She has a season high of 47 points and averages around 26 points a game.
Open Door has won five in a row to improve to 10-11. The Patriots will play at third-seeded Maplewood in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
For Lisbon, Jayden Smyth had a team-high 16 points and Lylah Brown added 12.
The Blue Devils finish the season at 13-10, including two losses apiece to Southern Local, Columbiana and United.

Southington 59, Heartland 41
SOUTHINGTON — Seventh-seeded Southington downed 13th-seeded Heartland Christian in a Division VII sectional final Saturday.
Southington won for the 11th time in 12 games to improve to 16-6. The Wildcats will host 10th-seeded Badger in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Heartland Christian finishes the season with a 9-14 record after an 0-5 start.
Doddridge County 50, Oak Glen 36
WEST UNION, W. Va. –Doddridge County held Oak Glen scoreless for the last 7:25 and scored a 50-36 win in regular-season play Saturday.
The Golden Bears cut the deficit to 41-36 with 7:26 remaining, but was outscored 9-0 the rest of the way.
Doddridge improves to 14-7, while Oak Glen wraps up the regular season at 12-10.
Fourth-seeded Oak Glen opens West Virginia Class AA tournament play by hosting fifth-seeded Ravenswood at 7 p.m. Friday.
