Miller stars for La Roche
PITTSBURGH — Crestview High School graduate Kirkland Miller is a 6-foot-1 junior on the La Roche University men’s basketball team.
Miller scored 10 points to help the Redhawks top previously-unbeaten Hilbert, 79-72, last Saturday.
In 17 minutes, Miller shot 4-of-5 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, with four rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot.
Miller has played in all 15 games this season, averaging 8.3 minutes per game.
La Roche is 5-10 overall and 4-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. La Roche will host Penn State-Altoona at 4 p.m. Saturday.
PAC honor for Hergenrother
NEW WILIMINGTON, Pa. — Westminster College senior basketball player Mick Hergenrother was named a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Month for December.
Hergenrother, a Youngstown Mooney High School graduate, is the son of former Salem High School standout Marty Hergenrother.
Mick Hergenrother, an accounting major, is also pursuing a minor in data analytics. He has a 3.84 grade-point average.
Hergenrother averaged 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game in December for the Titans. He made 13 straight starts to begin the year, averaging 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
On campus Hergenrother has served as a peer tutor for accounting, general business, and computer science courses. He traveled to Asheville, N.C. over spring break 2025 to help with hurricane cleanup and relief.
Each month, each PAC member institution are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments.
Salem girls will play one
SALEM — The Youngstown Ursuline at Salem girls basketball game on Saturday will be a varsity-only contest beginning at noon.
