Devils capture Indians

Lisbon 80, Southern 39

SALINEVILLE — AJ Ramgeet scored 26 points and younger brother Aidan Ramgeet had 19 in leading Lisbon past Southern, 80-39, Tuesday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

AJ Ramgeet also had nine rebounds, six assists and four steals. Mason Jones added 12 points and Blaine Barnes 11 points. Ashton Hinchliffe and Aiden Myers grabbed seven rebounds apiece.

Lisbon improves to 9-3 overall and 7-1 in the EOAC, tied with Columbiana for the league lead. Southern drops to 1-11 and 0-8 in league play.

The Blue Devils led 26-7 in the first quarter and 46-20 by halftime.

Landen Heffner topped the Indians with 13 points. Jacob McCurdy and Aiden Davis each had nine points.

Lisbon also won the junior varsity game, 28-14, as Mason Jones scored 12 points. Kim Charid Galman had eight points for Southern.

Both team return to league play Friday with Lisbon hosting Wellsville and Southern visiting Valley.

Wellsville 69, East Palestine 56

WELLSVILLE — Junior Darnell Roe scored 21 points and senior Haydin Oliver had a career-high 20 points in leading Wellsville past East Palestine, 69-56, Tuesday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Austin Adkins added 14 points.

Wellsville improves to 5-8 overall and 5-3 in the EOAC, two games behind league leaders Columbiana and Lisbon. East Palestine drops to 1-9 and 1-7 in league play.

East Palestine led 11-4 at the start and 24-23 at halftime.

Oliver scored all 20 of his points in the second half as Wellsville held a 46-32 scoring edge. Roe added 14 points in the second half.

Adkins had consecutive baskets and Roe hit a jumper from the foul line for a 6-0 run by the Tigers for a 29-24 advantage only 63 seconds into the second half.

Wellsville led the rest of the way, getting its first double-digit lead at 54-44 with less than five minutes remaining.

Drew Bycroft topped the Bulldogs with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists. RJ May had 10 points, four rebounds and three steals; Clark Rutledge nine points, five rebounds and five steals; and Michael Chestnut had three assists and two steals.

Wellsville won the junior varsity game, 41-30. East Palestine was led by Caleb Dmyterko with 11 points and Kealin Simon with five.

Both teams return to league play Friday as Wellsville visits league-leading Lisbon and East Palestine hosts United.

LEETONIA — Valley Christian outscored Leetonia 38-14 in the second half for a 59-31 win in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Tuesday.

The Eagles improve to 6-4 overall and 6-2 in the EOAC, one game behind Columbiana and Lisbon. The Bears drop to 3-10 and 2-6 in league play.

Valley also won the two-quarter junior varsity game, 29-13. Aiden Hunter led Leetonia with five points.

Both teams return to league play Friday with Leetonia at Columbiana and Valley hosting Southern.
