United’s Brown made of iron
CUYAHOGA FALLS — United’s Auston Brown took fifth at 135 pounds to lead girls wrestlers at the Ironman tournament on Saturday at Walsh Jesuit.
East Liverpool’s Alannah McGonigal was 7th at 170.
Also for East Liverpool, Kera Coil went 1-2 at 155, Nariyah Monteiro went 0-2 at 125, Paige Cowan went 2-2 at 130 and Piper Wolfe went 1-2 at 115.
Beavers try hand
at Ironman
CUYAHOGA FALLS — Beaver Local’s Evan Ours and Jake Hughes mixed it up with some of the best wrestlers in the country on Saturday at the Ironman tournament at Walsh Jesuit.
Ours went 1-2 at 165 pounds and Hughes went 1-2 at 157.
Rumblin’ at Reserve
BERLIN CENTER — The first Rumble at Reserve tournament was held on Saturday at Western Reserve and several area wrestlers competed in the event.
United finished second as a team. Will Gundersen was a champion, while Hunter Casto, Payne Graybeal, Carson Roller and Carter Lucas were second. Rohan Kelly and Mason Everly were third. Michael Mostoller was fourth.
For Wellsville, Leland Monte was second at 157. Also for the Tigers, Chesney Springer (132), Trent Rambo (144) and Caleb Snyder (150) were fourth.

Quakers win
at Edgewood
ASHTABULA — Salem’s girls wrestling team finished first on Saturday at the Edgewood Lady Warrior Rumble at Ashtabula Edgewood High School.
For the Quakers, Delaney Callahan (120 pounds), Paige Menough (140) and Amber Le (145) won their weight classes.
Haven Lagone (125) was second. Finishing third for the Quakers were Karli Thompson (115), Chaya Murray (135) and Lyric McCullough (170).
West Branch
competes at Duals
ALLIANCE –West Branch went 6-2 on Friday and Saturday at the Marlington Duals.
The Warriors earned a third-place showing with victories over Lake (63-12), Caldwell (59-14), Girard (45-30), Salem (57-18), Fitch Blue (45-30),and Shaw (50-16).
The team’s two losses came against Sheridan (40-24) and West Geauga (49-28).
