Rebels make the free ones
COLUMBIANA — Addison Rhodes scored 15 points and freshman Karli Perry seven in Crestview’s 31-point first quarter that put the Rebels on their way to a 67-22 win over Brookfield on Thursday.
The Rebels improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Tier. The Warriors lost their fourth in a row to drop to 1-4 and 0-2 MVAC.
Rhodes totaled a game-high 28 points. Ava Bucey and Briann Baker added eight points apiece. Perry and Lainey Milhoan each contributed seven points.
The Rebels shot 13-of-15 from the foul line and are shooting 81.8% on free throws this season.
Brookfield does not have a junior varsity team.
Both teams play Monday with Crestview at Newton Falls and Brookfield at LaBrae.

SALINEVILLE — Southern Local kept its perfect record in tact with a 54-9 win over Valley Christian on Thursday.
The Indians are 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.
Katie Kellogg had a strong game for Southern with 14 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Makenna Jones added 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Allyssa Shroades had 11 points and four steals. Hailee Kellogg had six points and five rebounds. Kalayah Crute nine points and five boards. Emma Boyle had four rebounds and three steals.
Southern will host East Liverpool at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

EAST LIVERPOOL — Keira Kosut dribbled the length of the floor and hit a layup with 13 seconds left to lift Brooke to a 40-39 win over East Liverpool on Thursday at Potter Fieldhouse.
Kosut ended up leading the Bruins with 15 points. LaNease Andrews powered the Potters with 23 points. Aubrey Lyle added eight points.
East Liverpool is 2-3 and will be at Southern on Saturday.
Brooke is 2-2 after going 0-23 last season.

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s girls basketball team was up to the task in a 44-27 win over Buckeye Local on Thursday.
A big fourth quarter by the Beavers turned what was a tied game at half to a rather comfortable win.
Ally Wright had 13 points for the Beavers, while Mallory Miller added 12 points.
Beaver Local is 2-4 and hosts United on Saturday.

LEETONIA — Columbiana’s girls basketball team posted a 61-15 win over Leetonia on Thursday.
Evy Rapp had 18 points for the Clippers, while Annah Clemmer had 13 points.
Columbiana is 6-1 and 4-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.
Leetonia is 0-4 and 0-4 in the EOAC.
Columbiana also won the jayvee portion, 24-6.
The Clippers are at East Palestine on Monday.
Leetonia is at Southern on Monday.

HANOVERTON — Maelee Smith had 18 points, eight rebounds and four steals as United ran away with a 37-23 win over East Palestine in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action on Thursday.
Reagan Good added nine points and 10 rebounds for the winners, 2-4 and 2-2 in the league. Bella Thompson added five points and seven steals.
United is at Beaver Local on Saturday.
Jacklyn Ogle had 13 points and six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs, 2-4 and 2-2 in the league. Violet Glavan had seven rebounds.
