Indians improve to 12-0
Southern 77, Wellsville 14
WELLSVILLE — Southern Local jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and rolled over Wellsville, 77-14, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Confernece play Monday.
The Indians imrpove to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the EOAC, one game ahead of Columbiana.
Southern had a balanced effort with seven players scoring at least seven points.
Kalayah Crute and Hailey Maines scored season highs for the Indians. Crute had 12 points and 11 rebound and Maines added eight points.
Maddy Jones had a game-high 13 points, Allyssa Shroades 11 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds, and Emma Boyle eight points, four rebounds and two assists.
Katie Kellogg had seven points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and six assists and Haylee Kellogg seven points, five rebounds and two assists. Raelea Carosiello contributed five rebounds and three steals, Lidia Spahlinger six rebounds, Maddy Jones five rebounds and Ava Reed four steals.
Wellsville fell to 0-10 and 0-7 in the EOAC.
Wellsville hosts Shadyside on Dec. 29, while Southern entertains United on Jan. 5.

United 57, Leetonia 15
LEETONIA — The United girls are picking up the pace.
The Eagles won their fifth in a row by downing Leetonia, 57-15, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Monday.
United improves to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the EOAC, two games behind league-leading Southern Local.
Leetonia drops to 1-7 and 1-6 in the EOAC.
Both teams play Dec. 29 with United hosting Minerva and Leetonia visiting Alliance.
Valley 38, East Palestine 34
EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine’s girls basketball team suffered a 38-34 loss to Valley Christian on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.
The Bulldogs fell to 3-6 and 3-4 in the league.
Jacklyn Ogle had 13 points for the winners. Violet Glavan added eight points and seven rebounds.
Valley Christian is 4-4 and 3-4.
East Palestine hosts Liberty on Saturday.
