Redfern, Aluise top East Palestine Turkey Trot

EAST PALESTINE — The 18th annual Turkey Trot at East Palestine City Park on Thanksgiving morning enjoyed its second-largest year with 301 runners.

Runners raced around the construction at the park in the 3.1-mile race.

A pair of former area high school standouts were the overall winners.

Logan Redfern, the only Southern Local runner to qualify for the state cross country meet, won the men’s race in 16 minutes, 40 seconds.

Kayla (Witmer) Aluise, a multiple state qualifier in cross country and track at South Range, topped the women’s race in 18:33.
