United uproots Rovers

HANOVERTON — It took the United girls soccer team 25 minutes to get the offense going.

Elli Powers scored two goals in leading United past Rootstown, 4-0, Monday.

Powers opened the scoring off a penalty kick with 14:49 left in the first half. The Eagles didn’t stop there as Natalie Shipley and Kiley Hetherington also scored goals and Powers added another.

Kylie Holmes and Bella Thompson had assists. Calee Ruthrauff made four saves in goal.

Holmes had the first scoring opportunity, but her kick hit off the crossbar only 9 1/2 minutes into the match.

United posted its fourth shutout of the season to improve to 8-6-2. Rootstown drops to 6-9, including a 2-0 loss at Salem three weeks ago.

Both teams return to action Wednesday as United and Rootstown travels to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.

West Branch 5, Ursuline 0

BELOIT — Junior goalie Audrey Eaton recorded her school-record 12th shutout of the season in West Branch’s 5-0 win over Youngstown Ursuline on Monday.

The Warriors improve to 13-0-2 overall. They have allowed three goals all season, including just one in their 13 victories.

Offensive leaders were Grace Bates and Elli Colian with two goals apiece. Alinee Bacconi also scored a goal.

Ellie Tucker, Cambrie Nezbeth, Caidee Schroeder, Sammi Beatty and Allie Brammer had assists.

West Branch will host Dover on Wednesday. The junior varsity match will start at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 6:30 p.m.

Southeast 3, Crestview 2

RAVENNA– Ravenna Southeast toppled Crestview 3-2 on Monday in girls soccer action.

Adri Hodge scored a goal off a corner from Isabella Novak, while Sydney Wellman scored off a corner by Shelby Wellman.

Clarice Harroff had nine saves, while Savannah Neville added six saves.

Crestview is 3-10-3 and hosts Columbiana on Wednesday.

Campbell 8, Columbiana 3

CAMPBELL — Campbell Memorial’s boys soccer team scored an 8-3 win over Columbiana on Monday.

Columbiana is 3-7 and will be at Mineral Ridge today.

East Liverpool 5, Monroe Central 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s boys soccer team blanked Monroe Central 5-0 on Monday at Patterson Field.

East Liverpool is 6-5-1 and will play at Harrison Central today.

Maddox Roach led the Potters with a goal and two assists, while Wyatt McCune had a goal and assist. Dom Johnson, Greyson Fitch and Brody Vulgamore had goals as well.

Rowan Stevens had an assist. Loyd Hendershot had four saves in goal.
